My name is Margarita, I'm a Patmian and a licenced tourist guide (which means I'm qualified to guide in all sites, historical monuments included). The village of Chora is a UNESCO world heritage site. On this tour we will explore and learn about its famous history and unique architecture . Through a labyrinth of atmospheric lanes we arrive at the oldest mansion on the island which will offer the opportunity to see the interior of a traditional Patmian house along with artifacts collected by 14 generations of the same family. We visit the oldest convent on the island with striking wall paintings from the 17th century and its tranquil garden. We continue on foot winding our way to the 11th century Monastery of St. John the Theologian, an imposing 900 years old structure. The treasury, which is the museum of the Monastery, displays a breath-taking collection, including a manuscript dating to the end of the 5th century.
Margarita was well organized and extremely informed. She set a pace that was easily managed and told interesting stories about the artifacts and buildings. It was very enjoyable and I highly recommend her. A highlight of our trip!
Great guide, hard to keep my daughter interested in the great history but she did it. Pointed out things she knew she would enjoy. Perfectly tailored our trip to what we needed, not just a standard tour. Highly recommend!

Margarita was a fantastic guide for the Patmos. There are not many residents so it was really terrific to have her insight from having lived on the island for many years. She kept everyone engaged with all of the information throughout the monastery and was a perfect guide through the winding streets of Patmos. We certainly would have gotten lost without her!
We explore the narrow alleys of Chora and visit: - Simandiri Mansion, the oldest mansion on the island; an opportunity to see the interior of a traditional Patmian house from the 17th century. -The Convent of Zoodochos Pigi founded in 1607. -The 11th century Monastery of St. John with its awe inspiring museum. -The windmills of Chora.
