My name is Margarita, I'm a Patmian and a licenced tourist guide (which means I'm qualified to guide in all sites, historical monuments included). I'm also an actor, having studied in Athens and Dublin, and my drama skills help bring storytelling to life. I would love to tell you about the most famous book ever written on "the end of the world", about everyday life in a medieval castle- monastery and of pirates who roamed the Aegean, as we meander in a village which hasn't changed in 200 years. Have I mentioned it's a UNESCO site? I am passionate about my island's unique history, it's rich traditions and hidden beauties. From the important theological message of The Book of Revelation and the architectural secrets of our most photographed sites , to the best of our local pastries and wines I can help you get the most out of your visit to Patmos. Have you hired a car for your stay on the island? Then I shall join you. Alternatively I can organise a vehicle and driver for 2- 40 people. -Successfully completed Fáilte Ireland Dublin City & Environs Tourist Guide Course, Dublin, Ireland. -Graduate of "Kazakos" Acting School, Athens, Greece. -Graduate of National Tourist Guide School, Rhodes, Greece. I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

After meeting your guide and driver depart from the port town of Skala and drive to the grotto of the Apocalypse. This small cave, converted into a beautiful chapel in the Monastery of the Revelation, is still an active place of worship. Learn about one of the most influential books in religious literature and walk in the steps of St. John. We continue on to the village of Chora, a UNESCO world heritage site. After a short walk we visit the tiny Convent of Zoodochos Pigi with its restored 17th century frescoes and hidden treasury. We visit the 11th century Monastery of St. John the Theologian, an imposing 900 year old structure, nestled in the centre of the village. The museum of the Monastery, houses one of the oldest copies of the Gospel of St Μark written 1500 years ago and the founding document of the Monastery with the signature of the Byzantine Emperor Alexios Komnenos along with jeweled chalices, crowns, crucifixes and vestments. A scenic drive. Optional lunch & swim stop (free time/no guide)
