Hi, my name is Nicolas, and I would be very happy to show you the place I live, this beautiful island, Mykonos. As a kid I had a thing for languages, and after I graduated from high school I developed an interest in history. It was only a matter of time for me to combine those two with the love of my country, and the will to show it to my foreign friends. That's how I became a tour guide. Although I have in the past guided people all over Greece, the last 20 years I live and work exclusively in Mykonos, from where I also conduct tours to Delos (the Greek Pompeii). I can work very well with children, making the tour very exciting for them. But, of course, I can cater for all kinds of people, and I can, if needed, custom tailor any of my tours to your needs, or your special interests. My hobbies include photography, music, cinema, wine and dine, and writing: I have written and published books, most of them on ancient Greece. So, do come to Mykonos, to discover all its beauties and the friendliness of its people. I have a valid guiding license, issued by the Greek Tourist Organization. My studies include 4 academic degrees: -Political Sciences, Panteion University, Athens -French Literature, National University, Athens -Lettres Modernes, Sorbonne University, Paris-IV -Master in European History, Neapolis University, Paphos No restrictions

I love this tour, and you will love it too, as it combines mythology, history, archaeology and unspoiled natural beauty. I have been giving tours on Delos since 2001 and I have also written a book about it! We'll visit an ancient town destroyed by pirates in 69 BCE and ever since left abandoned. But most importantly, Delos was, according to the mythology, the birthplace of god Apollo, the sun-god! We start by visiting a residential area (one of the five discovered so far) and we walk among ancient houses, shops, and workshops. And after visiting the theater, we proceed to the area of the temples. We see what remains of Apollo's temple and of his gigantic statue, while further down we come across the Slave Market (Delos became super rich thanks to the slave trade). Finally, we reach the famous Terrace of the Lions, where the tour ends. *NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PEOPLE WITH WALKING DIFFICULTIES, OR PEOPLE ON A WHEELCHAIR
- We meet at 09:30, and we take the Delos boat at 10:00, getting there in about 35 minutes. - We start by visiting the Theatre district, and we marvel at the ancient houses (house on 5th street, house of Dionysus, house of Cleopatra, house of the Trident). - We walk among houses, shops and workshops, we notice the town's almost perfect sanitary system, and we admire some mosaic floors. We visit the theatre and the near by huge public water cistern. - After that, we take the Sacred Way that leads to the area of the temples. We pass by the Stoa of Philip V, and soon we arrive before the ruins of Apollo's temple; the remains of his gigantic statue lay further down. - Next, we see the big Slave Market, and the adjacent Sacred Lake, where according to the mythology god Apollo was born. - Finally, we admire those famed marble lions, the guardians of the lake.
