Minoan Crete from 3.000 BC: Knossos Palace & Museum with Wineries from Elounda

Our two Crete tours with Alexander were, simply put, superlative. Alexander is exceptionally knowledgeable re: Crete's history and archaeology and he made Crete "come alive" for us. He read our interests extremely well and tailored our tours accordingly. Alexander handled our time with flexibility and efficiency and took us to authentic places off the beaten tourist path. Alexander (and his driver, Stefanos) were thoroughly professional, friendly and great communicators. We loved working with Alexander.

Alex is the BEST! What a special day. Our first stop was Knossos Palace, Minoan ruins. Yannis, a lovely gentleman, led us on this part of the day as well as the museum. He is very knowledgeable about Greek history and delightful to be with. The ruins are pretty remarkable. This was followed by a trip to the Heraklion Archeological Museum which contains many artifacts from Knossos Palace. Next, a wine tasting at a local winery. Last, lunch in Archanes, an amazing Greek village, a highlight of our trip.

We only had one day in Crete, and Alexander made it the absolute highlight of our entire Greece trip. Thoughtful, with unparalleled knowledge, and engaging. We saw things we never would have seen otherwise. Katarina was an amazing archeological guide, simply the best. Knossos and the museum, perfect. We left with the thorough experience and appreciation of Crete we were looking for. We will always carry a fondness in our hearts of that beautiful land, Alex, and Katarina. Fantastic tour, even with our limited time available. Alexander was spot on time, filled us in with a great historical timeline for Crete, and got us through the mass of tour groups visiting the sites. Loved it. He also connected us with a fantastic guide for the Knossos and museum sites, Yannis Vlahos, who is absolutely the best of all story tellers. Could not have been better and certainly set us up for a return visit to Crete to soak in the culture and beauty of the island.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Alex. He speaks excellent English. He scheduled our visit to the primary site, the Knossos Palace so as to avoid as much as possible the masses of other people arriving in tour buses. He also took us to the village where he lives and showed us a small, but very interesting museum there. For the primary sites on the itinerary he arranged a very knowledgeable and personable guide to conduct us through the Knossos Palace and Heraklion Museum.

This was a perfect experience. First of all, Alexander arrived early, always a good sign. He had all the characteristics one could want in a guide. He was extremely knowledgeable, accommodative of our personal preferences, flexible, and cheerful. His English was excellent and vocabulary extensive. I would highly recommend him.
