Dear visitor welcome to France! I have covered many parts of the world but each time the plane flies over the mediterranean sea to land at the Nice airport, I feel I am so lucky to live in a real garden of Eden. You do not agree with me yet? Ok, hop on and fasten your seat belt: I am taking you along the scenic roads and paths of the region to dramatic landscapes, hidden perched medieval villages and all the highlights that made the French Riviera such a unique destination. I am graduate in literature from Nice University and after a long career in different airline companies, I decided to become a certified national Guide ten years ago to share with you my passion for this territory and guess what? Each day on tour is for me just like my very first day in this business. I would describe myself as an open-minded, flexible and humorous guide. I am very involved in the success of your vacation so I take with high consideration your requests and expectations. As the father of two little boys, I feel particularly comfortable with families. I am looking forward to greeting and showing you all the beauty and diversity of southern France. See you soon. A pilgrimage on the sites of the operation Dragoon (or Anvil). On the 15th of August 1944: 850 warships obscured the horizon of the Mediterranean and fifty thousand men landed on the beaches of Provence, preceded by parachutes and heroic landings of gliders. The operation has been a massive success due to the sacrifice of thousands of men, especially on the Dramont beach where 20000 men of the 36th infantry division of Texas landed within 10 hours. From the American Rhone cemetery to the Esterel, we will discover a region known for its stunning beauty, which has been the grave of many brave. If you're looking for a specific name in the cemetry, or if you wish to put flowers on a grave or a site, I can arrange it for you on demand. We won't forget that this very place was also famous before the war, when F Scott Fitzgerald and Ernst Hemingway were staying in the South of France. If you wish we can enjoy a lunch by the sea while we follow the Gold corniche, one of the most famous scenic road in Europe.
LA MOTTE-EN-PROVENCE Covered with vines, the site where paratroopers jumped at the dawn of the 15th of August before the landing of gliders. Stop at the memorial. AMERICAN RHONE CEMETRY in Draguignan Run by the American Battle Monuments Commission, visit the cemetry where lies 858 of the military dead. Possibility to search for a name, put flower and a flag in advance. DEBARQUEMENT MUSEUM in Le Muy Visit of this small private museum created by enthusiasts in memory to soldiers of landing troops. VALESCURE The elegant district is not only a gorgeous scenery, it's also the place where F Scott Fitzgerald wrote "Great Gatsby", in a house you will see. DRAMONT Walk the landing beach and the vast memorial with the 2 landing craft. AGAY Stop on the original landing beach where a commando was victim of the mines. GOLD CORNICHE Drive the most famous scenic road in Europe and stop at a german bunker and a battery. MANDELIEU Walk the Hemingway beach where a B24 crashed. Seaside drive up to Cannes.
