This tour is perfect for children and families because if circumstances coincide and if we will be lucky we will see vultures cruising and climbers in full feat above the abyss of more than 700 meters deep. It looks amazing, both of it, primordial nature and humans trying to conquer nature. And in June and July, you will see the lavender fields flourishing, an unforgettable feeling it is. Alexis knows the pretty roads to take to get to the Gorges du Verdon. He was able to show us beautiful waterfalls, hilltop villages, great restaurants, grand views of the gorge, boating up the gorge river, and poppy/lavender fields ( even though we were a bit early for the lavender).
This is a great tour and Alexis is very welcoming and knowledgeable of the area. The only disappointing thing on the tour was after we climbed to over 1000 meters above sea level, we had a day of low cloud cover which meant we were not able to take in the normal panoramic views. Do highly recommend you consider this tour if you are in Nice or Cannes and have the time.
Alexis was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!! His attention to detail during the entire trip was amazing. We felt immersed in Provence and loved every detail of the history at each location. He took extra time just to make sure we enjoyed every minute of our day! He catered to our wishes to stop at the beautiful lavender fields and take them in as well as fully enjoy the Gorges du Verdon. We fell in love with the towns we stopped at because of his perfect explanation of the history at each stop. Merci Alex!!!!Merci!
1)Departure at 9:00 am First stop at the "Saut du Loup waterfalls" 2)visit to the ruins of Créolières dating from the 5th century and the church 12th 3)We will stop to Castellane for a lunch and visit the village 4) Go to the Verdon gorges for a short trek in the heard of nature on the banks of Verdon river . then we will continue by the " routes des cretes" and its cliffs overlooking at 500 meters above the Verdon river 5)We will finish at the Lac de St-Croix where you can go up the Verdon river aboard a pedal boat or a canoeing, for the more athletic if you prefer more quit and cultural Moustier St Marie , where You can visit this magnificent village with its waterfalls, the 11th century chapel of Notre Dame de Beauvoir and its 280 steps to make a wish, a custom dating back the 11th century and many shops with the their know-how since 18th century to made earthenware 6) you will can make unforgettable photos of the lavender fields during blossoming from (June to July)
