Welcome!! I'm Muluken. I am professional experienced tour organizer/guide in Addis Ababa and Ethiopia. I am here to make your tour experience special. Please, read further below and know me better. I was born and grew up in Addis Ababa - where I completed my junior education. I studied Accounting and was graduated in Diploma from Mekelle University. I didn't, luckily, like my job for 7 months as an Accountant till I decided something social. Then, I studied Tour Operation and Travel Management at the Catering and Tourism Training Institute for two years and graduated in Diploma in 2004 with 'Distinctions' ranking. I worked as a permanent tour operator/guide for the next five years at two of the best known tour companies in Addis Ababa. From August 2009 on, I've been enjoying organizing city tours in Addis Ababa, day tours around Addis Ababa, and longer day private tours to the historical sites of Northern Ethiopia, and the cultural and natural sites of the Omo Valley of Southern Ethiopia. My best quality, I believe, is customizing private tours in Addis Ababa, and longer days tours in Ethiopia. In addition to living in Addis, and professional knowledge and years of experience I got, I am passionate for guiding. Tour guiding is not only my way of earning money, it is a passion I live for. Loved going to the rift valley. Enjoyed the boat ride and the stele. Amazing visiting the local family, having some cabbage and fake banana bread. The coffee ceremony was awesome. Muluken was knowledgeable and very aware of our needs. Prompt on timing. Definitely recommend him for your tour in Ethiopia
Muluken is an excellent tour guide. He organized us a 2 day tour to Lake Awasa, visiting the bird life of lake Koka in a private boat; we also saw the baboons at the Abiyatta Shalla lakes national park, the Jamaican Rastafarian community, the fish market in Awasa and the Steles of Tiya. His explanations made us understand the cultural and daily life in Ethiopia. He speaks good English and he found a nice van with an expert driver called Yared to transport us with security and confort. We enjoyed the trip
Very nice trip. Both Meluken and his driver were very nice, knowledgable and generous people. I enjoyed traveling with them. One caveat though. Make sure you understand the itinerary. I thought we were going to stop at lake Langano and we didn't. On the other hand, I told Meluken that I wanted to buy a small basket to bring home. He and his driver made considerable efforts to help me do this (oddly, it was hard to find). I would travel with Meluken again
After I meet you at your hotel in Addis Ababa or Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, we start the days drive of 275 km south to Awassa. Stop at the best outlooks to enjoy the stunning view of the Rift Valley (30 min) Visit the grave site of Tiya (45 min) to see huge slabs of grave marker stones decorated with carvings. Tiya is registered by UNESCO as World Heritage. Continue driving south visiting a cultural village and taking (1 hour) boat ride on Lake Ziway for interesting birding. Have lunch at Lake Langano. Late in the afternoon, enjoy the sunset over Lake Awassa. Begin the second day by visiting the "Fish Market" of Lake Awassa (45 minutes) to experience life of the fishermen, to spot a lot of bird species, and to see Colobus Monkeys (Black and White Monkeys). Drive north with a stop at Shashemene town to visit the Jamaican Rastafarian Community (45 min) and learn their beliefs. Next, visit Abiyatta-Shalla National Park for (1 hour). Finally drive back to Addis Ababa via Bishoftu (Debre Ziet) town.
