I am an accomplished outdoor enthusiast and world traveller who has explored much of Canada, Asia, South America, Central America and New Zealand. At 25ish countries and counting I am always looking for new adventures and new people to share adventures with, whether it be by road or on foot. With more than 20 years of experience here in the Canadian Rockies I have a passion for the mountains and like nothing more than sharing that passion with others. I practice Leave No Trace ethics and it is my goal to foster a better appreciation and understanding of our natural environment by connecting people to the history and the landscape. My good nature and sense of humour make me an easy travelling companion on long and short trips alike. I am certified by the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides, the Interpretive Guides Association and the Outdoor Council of Canada. I also have an Advanced Wilderness First Aid Certification. Business Licences and Proof of Commercial Liability Insurance for all advertised Activities and Tour areas are available. I am continuously adding to my skills, experience and knowledge. For any and all trips I put the safety and enjoyment of my guests first. Transportation is included and recommendations can be made about local dining, accommodations, other activities and facilities. Requests for larger groups can be accommodated. Please bear with me as I am often away from internet and cell reception. I look forward to connecting with you as soon as possible. "Yoho" is a Cree word and an expression of awe and wonder. Now bordered by Kootenay N. P. and Banff N. P. Yoho became the second National Park in Canada. On this tour you will learn about the struggles of running a railroad through the Banff area and over Kicking Horse Pass as we cross the Continental Divide into British Columbia and stop to view the Spiral Tunnels. A single look at Takkakaw Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls in Canada, and it's obvious how the park got it's name. If the sight alone doesn't have you gasping in amazement then a short walk into the spray zone of the icy water surely will. Emerald Lake shines like, well, like an emerald and shares a unique history with the more popular Lake Louise. Learn about the significance of the Burgess Shale fossil beds located nearby. The Natural Bridge is an aptly named geological oddity and an excellent photo opportunity. The Field Visitor Centre has one of the best displays of Burgess Shale fossils outside of the Smithsonian.
This tour is best done as a day trip from Canmore, Banff or Lake Louise. At our meeting location we will have a safety briefing and review and sign waivers before departing. Stop 1 - Spiral Tunnels Viewpoint. Stop 2 - Takakkaw Falls, the 2nd tallest in Canada. There is a short walk to the true base of the falls where you can feel the spray. Stop 3 - Emerald lake. There are options for short and long walks along the lake shore. Stop 4 & 5 - On our return we will stop to admire the Natural Bridge and to see the fossils up close at the Field Visitor Centre. *The road to Takakkaw falls is open annually from July 15 - Oct. 15 depending on conditions. *Dining options are limited in the Park. Consider a picnic lunch which can be provided on request. *Adequate time has been built into this tour to allow for a leisurely pace. Linger at your favourite spots, go for longer hikes/walks or add on stops at Lake Louise.
