Moving to Jasper 33 years ago as the figure skating coach completely changed my life. I fell in love immediately with the park and it's unbelievable beauty and magnificent nature. I dreamed of being a hiking guide as soon as I heard that there was such a profession. I made that dream come true 28 years ago when I became a Certified Hiking Guide with the Association of Canadian Mountains Guides. I have travelled the planet for hiking and climbing and have been on trekking adventures to Nepal 7 times. I have climbed in China, Thailand, Hong Kong, Laos, India, Indonsia, Australia, Kenya, South Africa, Morroco, Ethiopia, Spain, Greece, Cuba, Colombia Peru, Argentina, United States and Jordon! I still find the Canadian Rockies very magical. I have guided many travelers from all over the world sharing my passion and knowledge of all the pure spaces that I have discovered. I believe that the pure spaces of nature are very powerful and that connecting with these spaces can be very nourishing for the soul. I always allow time for my guests sit in silence and really connect with themselves and the pristine places we explore. I believe in the importance of "leave no trace" practices in nature. I am always fostering an appreciation and understanding of ecosystems and the interconnectedness of all living beings. Terri Hunter was an exceptional guide - exceptional is her professionalism, exceptional in finding the most beautiful and varied hikes that are not on the beaten path, exceptional in her local historical knowledge and truly exceptional in her knowledge about wildlife and plant life. We cannot recommend. Her more highly! We were able to hike in 3 separate national parks with varied terrain and fabulous mountains, glaciers, lakes and waterfalls.
Terri very capably tailored a 6 day Jasper to Banff itinerary to suit our interests, elderly walking abilities, and weather conditions at the time. She knows of many less busy places that are just as scenic as those promoted in travel guides, which very often are crowded out. Terri is warm, friendly, considerate and a great conversationist.
Terri provided an excellent two-day itinerary for us to see the best of Jasper while taking into consideration our physical limitations. We really appreciated the stories and anecdotes that can only come from a local living in the region. The area is truly magnificent. We couldn't have asked for a better local tour guide!
Terri was a wonderful guide. Her knowledge and love of the area ( her home ) is vast and evident . She was very patient and accommodating ( we are a slow group of 6 ) and made our time with her very special. Terri was even able to change reservation times to help us enjoy our time with her, and gave us tips as to the best places to go for dinner ( she was right every time ! ). We highly recommend her ! Terri is a delight. We cannot recommend her highly enough. We did a two-day tour of Banff in 2017 and returned in 2023 for a four-day tour of Jasper. She's a fount of information about history, geology, flora and fauna. She knows the terrain better than anyone. Most of all, she is a kind, thoughtful, gentle person who is gifted with children.
Our group of six seniors had a wonderful experience with Terri Hunter. She put together an 8 day tour of Jasper, Lake Louise and Banff, allowing us to see all of the main sights and many of her "secret gems" of the areas. Her decades of guiding experience was very evident to each of us. Terri is very personable, and very knowledgeable of the history of the Canadian Rockies. I recommend Terri without hesitation for anyone who wants a one day or multi-day tour of this awesome part of the world
Day 1 – The Iceline Trail We begin with one of the most iconic hikes in Yoho National Park. Walking high above the thundering Takkakaw Falls and alongside a glacier, you’ll be surrounded by jaw‑dropping alpine scenery from start to finish. Day 2 – The Icefields Parkway As we drive this legendary route, towering peaks rise all around us. We’ll stop to hike into some of the Parkway’s most spectacular landscapes—hidden valleys, turquoise lakes, and sweeping mountain vistas. Day 3 – Jasper’s High Ridges Step onto the ridgelines of Jasper’s most prominent peaks. The views here are vast and unforgettable, stretching across the rugged wilderness of the Rockies. Day 4 – Maligne Valley & Lake Our final day takes us into Jasper’s premier valley. From pristine trails to the shimmering waters of Maligne Lake—the longest glacier‑fed lake in North America—you’ll be immersed in pure natural beauty.
