He's best known for his work in ceramic sculpture. He built his workshop in the ruins of his family's old tile factory. The land where it is located is known as Engenho Santos Cosme e Damião (Saints Cosmas and Damian Mill), is in the historic neighborhood of Várzea and is surrounded by remnants of the Atlantic Forest and the waters of the Capibaribe River.
