Day trip to Bovilla Lake and Kruja city - from Tirana

Anyone who loves nature, hiking, tradition, culture, food and sightseeing would also love this daytrip which is around 8 hours.
Bovilla lake offers a wonderful landscape from top of the mountain. The lake of Bovilla lies on the northeastern side of Tirana, between two mountain ranges. This is probably the closest area to practice climbing on the rocks near the capital. In this area is a safe itinerary for walking, hiking and climbing on rocks. The itineraries vary in difficulty degrees, from simple ones to more difficult ones.

The historical city of Kruja offers an amazing atmosphere. There is an ottoman market, the castle of the city and museum around the city which we are going to visit them one by one.
We will also have lunch at one of the most popular restaurant in the city which is actually inside the castle.

Drive to coastal city of Durres and visit the Amphitheater, Roman Forum and Archaeological museum.
Afterwards we are heading towards Lalzi Bay, drive on the rolling hills by the Adriatic coastline, enjoying the view, till you reach Duka Winery to have wines tasting and winery tour. Eating lunch in Duka Restaurant located by a lake surrounded by vineyards, will make the lunch an unforgettable experience.
After lunch we continue to Cape of Rodon, which is an area of outstanding natural beauty and relaxation, with castles and churches infused with fascinating histories. Visit Skanderbeg Castle and the Church of St. Anthony. Drive back to Tirana

Berati - The City of Thousand Windows. Travel in the morning from Tirana towards the Museum City of Berat. UNESCO since 2008 just before Berat we will make a stop in Durres. One of the oldest towns in Albania and the first and perhaps the most important of the Greek colonies in the country. It was founded at Epidamnus in 627 B. C. by Greeks from Corcyra (present-day Corfu) and Corinth. We will visit some of the remains such as the Roman Amphitheatre, forum, Venetian Tower, city walls and Archaeological Museum.

After the visit of Durres we will make for Berat on the way a stop at the Ardenica Monastery, later arrive in Berat. As arrived there visit the castle, built up on a rocky hill 260 m above the sea level.

Visit to the other objects: Bachelor's mosque, Gorica Bridge and some of the dwelling houses of the 18th and 19th century.

If you want to explore the wild beauty of Tirana's surroundings while also getting a serious dose of adrenaline, this day trip from Durres is the way to go.

Begin our hiking adventure together in the beautiful area near Tirana around Bovilla Lake. This destination will offer you an amazing view of wild mountains mixed with the green color of the lake, creating a spectacular hiking experience to the rock on the top of Bovilla Track.

In particular, the peak of Gamtiti Mount (1, 268 m/4, 160 ft) is quite interesting.
Together, we will reach its peak, and you will discover a beauty hidden in plain sight.
After that, you can enjoy a picnic lunch with a great view.

Our day and the time we start the tour is flexible and is meant to accommodate your schedule and interests.
After breakfast in the hotel, departure to Kruja medieval town, located on the slope of Sari Salltik mountain. An old bazaar leads you up to the castle of the National Hero Skanderbeg. Visit in the castle of the city, housing the Skanderbeg Museum and the Ethnographic museum. You will also have time to spend in the bazaar just to see how the ladies produce the carpets or to have a look at the antiquaries!

After Kruja we continue to the city of Durres, that is also the most important seaport in Albania. Visit the Amphitheatre, the biggest in the Balkan Peninsula (capacity over 15. 000 spectators) with a rare wall mosaic from the 4-5 century AD, the Archaeological Museum! We make a walk in the city to enjoy the Justinian Walls, Venetian Tower and the Promenade.

Here in Albania we like to show proudly the peaceful way different religions live here side by side. A colorful Mosque, a modern Catholic Cathedral and a impressive Orthodox Church, all to be visited in few minutes.

Starting from Durres - Half Day Tour

I will take you on a 4 hour walking tour of the downtown core of Durres. This will help orient you and show you some of the unique places and sites of the city. The city has a rich history that stretches over 2500 years and still preserves some fascinating attractions to visit.

Within the downtown area we will visit the archeological museum, where I will give you a thorough overview of the history of the city and from there we shall walk to the ruins of the Roman amphitheater, Roman forum, Byzantine fortifications and the center of the new town.

After these visits we shall stop at one of the viewpoints of the city, overlooking the entire bay and port of Durres where we shall have some coffee, refreshments or Italian style gelato, while we discuss the economical, social and cultural life of the city.

Towards the end of the tour we shall visit some more landmarks, the promenade, Venetian Tower, Bank of Albania and Orthodox church. (The Bank of Albania can only be seen from the outside)

We are going to visit a city that has gone through 2500 years of history and different names that nowadays is called Berat. Proclaimed as a ''Museum City'' Berat is protected by UNESCO World Heritages since 2008. The old town consist on two quarters Mangalem and Gorica and has a special Ottoman architecture that dates from XVIII century. But that's not all.

The city has it's own castle build in the XIII century and is one of the biggest in Albania. This castle is one of the few that is full of life because the locals are still living inside it, in their own private houses build centuries ago. That is a whole neighborhood called ''the castle''. Walking through it give you the feel that you're experiencing the medieval times.

Berat - The unique town of 'One thousand & one...... windows' UNESCO Heritage

Magic is real, you can feel it in the air. It is so old, over 2500 years old. It has a proper name, it's called Berat.
The town is surrounded by hills and mountains, which gives the impression of a "Huge Amphitheater" where the "local gladiators" are living in peace with Mother Nature.

Magic continues once you enter inside the Fortress overlooking the town, built by Illyrian Masters with big blocks of stone, which looks like a big "stage of a movie" from the ancient times. The locals are still living in their own little houses with small gardens where they grow fresh fruits and vegetables.
Down the hill, the cobble street lead the way to the heart of the Magic, the Mangalemi neighborhood. This is a rare example of an architectural character typical of the Ottoman period.

And then there's the The Medieval quarter, Gorica neighborhood with the stone bridge and more and more to visit in the town.

I think I've said a lot, I don't like to ruin this magic, let's go and explore it together….
