Hi I'm Peter, my family go back 5 generations here - so Im pretty local and I really do feel like I know this place well. Being a Guide is something I sometimes cant believe I do for a living - Ive been doing this for quite a few years and I love it - its just the best fun! I've always been passionate about community, nature, shared stories and experiences and peoples backgrounds - so guiding people around my city always generates discussions of familiarity & difference from home and abroad. My broader family work in country regions and exposure to their lives in "the bush" generally has given me a healthy respect and understanding for what they do as farmers in all conditions in remote locations. Australia can be a hard but rewarding place for country people. Im also deeply interested in and respectful of the original peoples (the Nyoongar) of the Perth area and how they lived in & managed this country prior to the arrival of europeans. I continue to learn in this area and I love sharing what I know about this amazing wonderful culture with you. Modern Perth is a very multicultural city and I've spent a lot of my working life here with peoples from all over the world in University student supporting roles prior to Guiding. Mixing with visiting international and local country people from everywhere has given me a rich appreciation of the diversity of cultures on the planet and how unique we all are.
