Explore Medellin your way

At ToursByLocals, we believe that how you explore is just as important as where you go. That’s why every Medellin tour is private, flexible, and built around you: Move at your own pace, skip the crowds, make connections and follow your curiosity. Find local guides offering private tours in Medellin for every interest, including:

Nature and Wildlife tours: Ride the Metrocable to Parque Arví for a private, guided forest walk where you might spot orchids, bromeliads, and hummingbirds on quiet trails; or explore the Jardín Botánico to see the Orquideorama, iguanas by the lagoon, and native plant collections.

Day trip tours: Head to Guatapé to climb the 740 steps of El Peñol rock, wander streets lined with colourfully painted zócalos, and add a boat tour on the reservoir; or visit Santa Fe de Antioquia to stroll cobblestone lanes and cross the historic Puente de Occidente with a cacao tasting at a small farm.

Food and Drink tours: Taste exotic fruit at Plaza Minorista, sample arepas de choclo hot off the griddle, and sit down for a bandeja paisa at a neighbourhood favourite in Envigado; then compare brewing methods during a coffee cupping at a specialty roastery in El Poblado or try local craft beer in Laureles.

Many neighbourhoods are walkable and the Metro and Metrocable make getting around straightforward, but hills and distance can add time; if you prefer door-to-door convenience, you can book chauffeured tours or tours with private transportation, or ask your local guide to arrange pickups.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all itinerary, you can tailor your private tour to match your interests, pace and personality with a local who knows Medellin inside and out.

Guatapé and El Peñol Rock: Climb the famous granite steps for a wide lake view, wander streets lined with colourful zócalos, and add a short boat ride to see the islands, a simple combo that suits photographers, casual hikers, and families who like a mix of light activity and bright scenery.

Santa Fe de Antioquia: Stroll cobblestone lanes and whitewashed plazas, cross the Puente de Occidente suspension bridge, and try tropical fruit in the main square, which caters to history fans and anyone who wants warm weather, slower streets, and classic architecture in a single day.

Coffee Country near Medellín: Spend a day at a small farm in the hills around Fredonia, La Ceja, or El Retiro to trace beans from field to roaster, taste fresh brews, and learn simple cupping basics, ideal if you love hands-on learning and want a deeper look at Colombia’s signature crop.

San Félix Ridge and Mountain Viewpoints: Glide on a tandem paraglider over green valleys or relax at hilltop cafes while watching the flights, then sample arepas and local snacks, a flexible plan that fits both thrill seekers and those who want big views without a long hike.
