I've always loved nature and showing people the amazing country I was fortunate enough to be born into. My family influenced greatly who I am, not only I became I biologist like my father and an outdoor enthusiast, but I learned how to travel with them. Since I can remember every year we would visit places while doing road trips, camping and making an effort to get the real sense of the places we visited. We would stay in rural accommodations, talk and share time with the locals and go further than the average traveler. In my professional career, while studying birds, amphibians and reptiles all over Colombia, I've become very knowledgeable about our natural environment, history, culture and places we have to offer. The same for my city Medellin, I'm a natural explorer and would love to share with you everything I know of this great place. I'm a Biologist from The University of Valle, Cali- Colombia and a Master of Science in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from The University of Tennessee. I've completed the courses and received the certification issued by SENA, Colombia's National Apprenticeship Service, to perform as a tour guide (RNT 80885).

Up in the mountains of the Aburrá Valley we will find a hidden world, filled with floral gems, like orchids and bromeliads, a place where water and mist are protagonists and colorful life is present in every corner. The Cloud Forest, once a dominant landscape around Medellin, it is present now only in protected areas that help us understand the fragility of this ecosystem and the urgency to preserve what is left. Let's hike through this wonderful forest and enjoy the views, while you learn about rare plants, birds and insects that call this place home.
Laura was amazing. Thoughtful, very educated in the local birds and fauna of the region, and easy to talk to. We enjoyed a great hike to a waterfall with her and saw over 40 unique species of birds! Nothing short of a perfect day for us, HIGHLY recommend.
This was a wonderful experience and enriched our Medellin stay. Laura is beyond great: knowledgeable about birds and where to find them, how to bring them closer, and what their calls are. And the cloud forest is a very special place-and so close to the city. We are all 4 very happy that we did this tour. Highly recommend it!
What a fabulous day! Laura was awesome, extremely helpful, catered the tour to meet my needs and helped me to find lots of birds, with several of them being endemics. She was on time, brought a great lunch, and taught me many things. I would highly recommend going with her on a tour.
Great birding tour by Laura, I would highly recommend it to anyone! Laura is extremely knowledgeable about the birds and just a great guide overall. The communication and pickup were all very smooth and she even provided tasty coffee and food. If I was in the country longer I would definitely want to book another tour with her.
My friend and I had an excellent tour with our guide Laura. She arrived on time and gave us an option in terms of hikes we might try. As we started at 6:30 she brought coffee for us as well. And then we were off birding. We/she saw or heard over 48 species. Lora was totally equipped with the laser to be able to point out birds that she saw and a device that allowed her to imitate bird calls to bring them to us which definitely worked. She carried breakfast and local "farmer lunch" too. Great guide!
Laura took us on a personalized, informative and beautiful nature experience! We opted to go birding early in the morning and Laura guided us to see over 60 birds and hear a variety of calls and songs. We also went on a challenging hike to a waterfall and walked through creeks. Laura guided us through various terrain, including a masterful drive up the winding mountain roads of Envigado. Laura - thank you for your care, passion and knowledge. Do this and support her environmental education NGO!
I'll pick you up at your hotel in the morning at your preferred time, but for better chances of observing wildlife or if you want to do birding I recommend an early pick up time of no later than 6:30am. After this we will have a short drive to one of the natural reserves around the Aburrá Valley. We will take our snacks and head to the trail, admiring the vegetation and wildlife as we walk, along the way we will look for a comfortable place to have a snack and enjoy the view before heading back. Depending on your preferences we can adjust the difficulty level of the hike. Some of the options are: 1) The length of the trail 2. 4km. Starting height of 2500 m. a. s. l. and end hight at 2950 m. a. s. l. degree of difficulty of 3. 5 (1-5 range). 2) Length of the trail 5. 5km. Starting height 1830 m. a. s. l. and end hight at 2950 m. a. s. l. Difficulty level 2 (1-5 range).
