Birding or Hiking in the Cloud Forest around Medellin City

Up in the mountains of the Aburrá Valley we will find a hidden world, filled with floral gems, like orchids and bromeliads, a place where water and mist are protagonists and colorful life is present in every corner. The Cloud Forest, once a dominant landscape around Medellin, it is present now only in protected areas that help us understand the fragility of this ecosystem and the urgency to preserve what is left. Let's hike through this wonderful forest and enjoy the views, while you learn about rare plants, birds and insects that call this place home.

I'll pick you up at your hotel in the morning at your preferred time, but for better chances of observing wildlife or if you want to do birding I recommend an early pick up time of no later than 6:30am. After this we will have a short drive to one of the natural reserves around the Aburrá Valley. We will take our snacks and head to the trail, admiring the vegetation and wildlife as we walk, along the way we will look for a comfortable place to have a snack and enjoy the view before heading back. Depending on your preferences we can adjust the difficulty level of the hike. Some of the options are: 1) The length of the trail 2. 4km. Starting height of 2500 m. a. s. l. and end hight at 2950 m. a. s. l. degree of difficulty of 3. 5 (1-5 range). 2) Length of the trail 5. 5km. Starting height 1830 m. a. s. l. and end hight at 2950 m. a. s. l. Difficulty level 2 (1-5 range).
