Cloud Forest Adventure: Birdwatching, Waterfalls & Mountain Trails

Escape into the lush mountains surrounding Medellín on a private adventure combining birdwatching, hiking, and waterfalls. We begin early in the morning near La Catedral, entering the protected El Salado area in Envigado at approximately 2,300 m (7,550 ft) above sea level. Following forest trails, we gradually descend while looking for native birds, wildlife, and local flora. At around 2,000 m (6,560 ft), we reach La Miel stream and continue along the valley to Chorro Campanas, a beautiful waterfall surrounded by the mountains. We then follow the stream toward Arenales. The hike is approximately 7 km (4.3 miles), but the route can be adjusted according to your fitness level and interests. For the return, choose between the same trail or a higher-elevation route back to La Catedral, offering different scenery and birdwatching opportunities.

1. Private Pickup & La Catedral Early pickup from your hotel and transfer to La Catedral, the former prison made infamous by Pablo Escobar. We’ll learn about its history before entering the protected El Salado area. 2. Cloud Forest & Birdwatching Hike through lush Andean forest trails while looking for native birds, wildlife, and diverse flora. 3. La Miel Stream & Chorro Campanas Follow La Miel Stream through the valley to Chorro Campanas waterfall, enjoying the scenery and learning about the local ecosystem. 4. Return & Hotel Drop-off Return to La Catedral by the same trail or a higher forest route, followed by private transportation back to your hotel.
