Hello everyone! My name is Nikos and I would be more than happy to guide you through the area I grew up, live in, and adore! I was born in Athens, grew up in Volos, studied Mathematics in Thessaloniki, and extensively traveled Greece most of that time. As a result, I have developed a passion for Greece, for the area where I live, which is by far my favorite; a passion that I always try to pass on to the people I transfer to and guide. The car I own is a Mercedes E-Class, and I am a professional driver (taxi license). I guide and transfer small groups of people (from 1 up to 4 people). As a foodie, I will be able to hint at what to eat. I love taking photos and I know where to stop for the best photo ops. I adore my area, and the experience of traveling with a group that enjoys the same things I do is one of fulfillment and satisfaction. I love reading, the NBA, science, creating websites, watching movies and tv series. There is always something to talk about. I love the Greek way of life and that's what you are going to hear about a lot during our tour, what we do, what we eat, what we like, how we think about a lot of different aspects of everyday life. Overview of your Volos tour
This wonder of nature would be worth visiting just for the picturesque landscape even if the monasteries weren't there. The thing is that they are. The old Greek Monasteries blend in perfectly with the surrounding environment creating a once in a lifetime sensation. It is my most popular tour (more than 100 times a year) and there is a good reason for that. I will be explaining a lot about geology, history, orthodox religion, and the impact Meteora has had on Greece over the centuries, and in the present day. We will also talk about Greece and the Greek way of life. Since I've been doing this for so many years, I know the best traditional local restaurants, I know where are the best stops, where to go, we will visit the spots that are "off the map" for the majority of tourists, for you to take the best photos that you would otherwise miss, and to give you an unforgettable experience. If you come from a cruise ship it is the ideal full-day trip for you. If you are in Volos it is the best option to go for.
Your Volos tour itinerary
- Driving to Meteora - We have an almost 90-minute ride till we get to Meteora. - When we get there we can make an optional 15 min stop at a local icon workshop, (it provides a decent restroom) - The monasteries - You get to visit two monasteries on the inside. If time allows a third one is an option. * Notice that depending on the day of the week, a different monasteries are open. - Photos and drive tour - You will be able to see and take photos of all 6 monasteries on the outside, we will drive through the area and stop for photo ops all the time! - A visit to a "hidden area" - a place where big buses cannot visit and is not widely commercialized. A true gem. - Time for lunch - because there is no better way to close the day that eating in a traditional local restaurant. - Return to Volos, dropping you off at your place of preference. ** Important note: When visiting Meteora women have to wear skirts and men have to wear trousers This tour can be customized
