The food available in Hanoi's narrow alleys and tree-lined boulevards is just as much a part of the city as its lakes and old-world architecture. All of these elements combine with the indomitable spirit of the Vietnamese people to produce a lively culinary scene that is both diverse and confronting. It is very difficult to find some local food stalls and mini restaurants on your own in hidden alleys and sidewalks, certainly the best way to make it easy is to join Tour Guide Hanoi, and take part in this special tour to learn about Vietnamese cuisine, culture, people and language. Along the lively streets in Hanoi's Old Quarter, families have been perfecting their recipes for generations. The result is some of the most flavorful Vietnamese foods in the country, prepared with heart, but often disguised behind doorsteps tucked into mazes of motorbikes. On our Hanoi Street Food Tour, Hanoi's rich and compelling flavors are expressed in every bite.
Start walking around 4 km in the old quarter "36 streets" to visit some famous and specialized- food families or stalls/ local restaurants, and shops where they run their business every day. - Visit Dong Xuan market to sample some local treats Banh Goi (Pillow Dumpling). I will explain the routine of Vietnam meal times and indigenous/unusual ingredients eaten. - You will dip your fingers and wash your senses in the extraordinary Vietnam cuisine and experience Vietnam tradition through food. - Try out the famous Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwich - Go to one of the best Pho Bo (Rice noodle soup with beef) in Hanoi to eat locally. If you are not full you could go to a tiny restaurant to try specialty Banh Cuon (Steamed Rolled Rice pancake). - The benefit also goes back to the vendors or restaurants/ families as we buy directly from them. - Enjoy the special egg coffee at one of the traditional family-run coffee shops at the end of the tour.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
