Shore Excursion from Skagway to Yukon Border: Scenic Half-Day Adventure

This was hands down our favorite excursion of the entire Alaska cruise and worth every penny. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking from start to finish, and we took some of the best pictures of our entire trip. We were lucky enough to see bears, bald eagles, and mountain goats, which made the experience even more memorable. Even if you don't see a lot of wildlife, the incredible mountain, glacier, and coastal views alone make this excursion unforgettable. If you're trying to decide which excursion to book, don't miss this one. It was easily one of the highlights of our Alaska vacation, and we'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Chris did an outstanding job! Very knowledgeable about the area. Made great suggestions on where to stop. Provided good info on shopping and eating in Skagway. Took us well into the Yukon and saw spectacular scenery. Saw a black bear and got a good look at mountain goats with his spotting scope. He had water and snacks which were appreciated. Another great thing was that we weren’t on a big tour bus with a ton of other people. For six people it was equal to or less expensive than booking with the cruise. But the experience was ten times better!

This is the third time I’ve used Tours by locals and I have been pleased every time. Sam worked with me in the beginning on Chris’s behalf and was very helpful and prompt with all of my many questions/requests. We wanted to see as much of Skagway as we could and Chris made that happen, more than we even imagined. He was so much fun and didn’t kill us (I hope he reads this and gets a good laugh). I can’t say enough good things about Chris. We did the 2.75 hour train ride at 8 am and Chris picked us up at the train station at 11 am. We spent five amazing hours with him and I would give him 100 stars if that was a thing. He even helped us “find a bear and a moose” to prank the travelers that didn’t go with us. I wish I could post photos here because we have some amazing ones. Definitely book with Chris if you get the opportunity! You won’t regret. These six Mississippians sure haven’t!!!

Chris was an excellent tour guide; very knowledgeable and accommodating. Our seven-person group, aged 10-80, had a wonderful time. Wildlife viewing and a visit to the sled dog kennels were highlights. We would definitely book this tour again. Thanks for a memorable experience.

We had a great time with Chris. We were a party of 6 and I wouldn't typically get a private van tour but it gave us flexibility to customize our itinerary. We were able to make multiple stops. Chris was knowledgeable and perfect for our family!

We were a group of 10 people and were absolutely delighted with Chris and the tour. He make us feel very comfortable, and showed us all the beautiful scenes and we even made it to the suspension bridge, which is a must! I highly recommend this tour, and ofcourse the wonderful and warm guide, Chris.
