David S. — San Diego, Golf, Food and Discovery Twenty years in this city and I still find new reasons to love it. I spent 25 years as a corporate marketing executive before deciding on a career pivot; showing people the best of San Diego. Golf travel is where I started, but it's not the whole story. I help travelers experience the best of San Diego. Restaurants are worth the wait. Where the wildflowers hit their stride in March. Where the seals hang out. The best local hikes. Which popular sightseeing spots are actually worth checking out. Golfer or not, I'll build a day around what you're actually into. Every trip I lead is personally hosted, start to finish. If you're looking for the generic version of San Diego that shows up on tourist maps, there are other guides for that. If you want the version locals keep to themselves, I'm your guy.

La Jolla gets called "The Jewel" for a reason, most visitors only see the version from a car window on the way to somewhere else. This half day gets you off the road and onto the coastline — sea lions and seals playing in the surf, sandstone sea caves cut into the cliffs below the village, and a bluff-top trail with views straight down into the water. You'll stop for coffee and pastry at a local spot worth the detour, then head north to the Torrey Pines Gliderport, where paragliders launch off the cliffs and the whole coastline opens up in front of you. The tour closes with a walk down the beautiful beaches of La Jolla Shores where you'll see the Scripps Pier, rock formations & more. Depending on what you're into, that can also mean a stop at Torrey Pines Golf Course, a hike down to a secluded beach, or a stop for fish tacos. Nothing here is scripted — the route flexes around your group's interests. A mix of walking and driving, four and a half hours, one stretch of California coast, done right.
