Greetings! My name is Carolyn I am offering regularly scheduled tours with a narrative and perspective not customarily included in traditional tours. My mission is to take you on an eye-opening journey, an experience, that enlightens and entertains. I share a Memphis you can feel! Together we will explore the influences and contributions made by African Americans in the development of this great city. You will be engaged not just by the sites we cover but the lesser known stories woven in between those historical sites. For over 25 years I have researched, developed tour routes, written scripts in Washington DC, Savannah, GA, Philadelphia, PA and Memphis, TN. I love the Hospitality Industry! It has given me the opportunity to meet some amazing people from around the world. Giving a tour to Oprah Winfrey and some members of her audience was one of many highlights. Sites on the tour include: - Slave Haven: a site that documents the history of the Underground Railroad - Historic Mason Temple: where Dr. M L King, Jr. delivered his last speech; "I've Been to the Mountaintop, " the day before his was assassinated. - The National Civil Rights Museum/Lorraine Motel: the site of the assassination of Dr. M L King, Jr. - Beale Street: hear "the rest of the story" about one of America's most iconic streets. - Stax Museum of American Soul Music: one of the few museums in the world dedicated to Soul Music, located in the heart of Soulsville, USA. We will visit several neighborhoods: Uptown Pinch District South Memphis Soulsville USA The Edge There is so much more to Memphis than Downtown, and I am excited to show you more of it by visiting several other neighborhoods.
