I’m Allan, and have had the pleasure of calling Juneau home since 2016. Although I grew up in California and Oklahoma as a kid, my parents instilled in me a deep love of travel. That passion has taken me to many states and a few homes, but settling in Juneau feels like the perfect fit, and it's where I live with my wife and daughter. My wife’s family actually has deep roots here — they’re a third-generation Juneau family, with her grandfather having been stationed in Alaska during WWII. Last year, I decided to pursue guiding full time in order to share my love of this fascinating city. Previously, I worked as a city ambassador and educator, gaining valuable insights about our community and its visitors. On my scenic road tours, I love sharing the rich history and beauty of Juneau: from its indigenous roots and mining town origins to its role as Alaska’s capital and its incredible wildlife. Let's explore Alaska together!

On this tour, we'll travel Juneau's road system, making stops at historical sites and panoramic viewpoints along the way. We'll drive through historic downtown Juneau, covering relevant landmarks that are important pillars of state government. We'll venture into greener pastures like the Shrine of Saint Therese; where we might see marmots, orcas and humpback whales in the ocean, which might be spotted with the binoculars I provide. But this is not the only scenic spot we'll visit. At Overstreet Park, we'll see a humpback whale statue constructed in 2009, which commemorates fifty years of Alaskan statehood. The park also presents amazing views of the bridge connecting Juneau with Douglas Island. We'll then visit Douglas Island, and see what remains of an old gold mine as well as some gorgeous views of the mountains of Juneau.
-Our tour will start with a pick-up from an agreed on point, after which we'll drive across the historical downtown area where we'll see the Governor's Mansion, Juneau's Capitol building and a few others built in the early 1900's. -Next, we'll visit Overstreet Park, which presents a commemorative whale statue and beautiful views of the Gastineau Channel. -Then we'll head to Brotherhood Bridge Lookout, to snap photos of the Mendenhall Glacier without all the crowds. -We'll later head to the Shrine of St. Therese, an astonishing site where we'll see the ocean as we stroll leisurely, possibly coming across varied wildlife. On the drive to and from the Shrine, black bears are sometimes seen along the road! We can photograph them from the safety of our vehicle. -Lastly, we will drive to Douglas Island to see remnants of the old gold mine, including the old pump house, a landmark of Juneau. -Finally I'll drop you back off at your pick-up location.
