I’m Allan, and have had the pleasure of calling Juneau home since 2016. Although I grew up in California and Oklahoma as a kid, my parents instilled in me a deep love of travel. That passion has taken me to many states and a few homes, but settling in Juneau feels like the perfect fit, and it's where I live with my wife and daughter. My wife’s family actually has deep roots here — they’re a third-generation Juneau family, with her grandfather having been stationed in Alaska during WWII. Previously, I worked as a city ambassador and educator, gaining valuable insights about our community and its visitors. Overview of your Juneau tour
On this tour (weather and tides permitting), we'll take a leisurely stroll along flat ground at a local dog-walking spot. We will contemplate a panoramic view which will allow us to see plenty from a distance, such as the Mendenhall Glacier, Douglas Island and planes periodically departing and arriving at the Juneau International Airport. This is truly a favourite spot of mine. I'll also let you know about native plants and birds in the area and we'll be sure to visit some landmarks and other beautiful places nearby. For instance, we'll gaze from the shore at various picturesque local vessels and even big yachts owned by sometimes world-famous travellers to Juneau. Often from the waterfront, one can see kayakers, and sometimes float planes; with a beautiful backdrop of the Mendenhall Towers mountain range.

-First, we'll visit a local walking trail in the Mendenhall Valley where we'll take our time strolling to absorb the beauty of Juneau's pristine landscapes. -Further ahead, we'll have a great opportunity to take photos of the Mendenhall Glacier. -Next, we will visit another gorgeous spot: Statter Harbor. -Then we will drive to Auke Lake, and walk the grounds. -As we go on, at one spot on a nearby bridge, we will see how much the Mendenhall Glacier has receded in a century. -Finally I'll drop you back off at your pick-up location.
