With nearly 20 years of experience in the tourism industry and over 25 years working within the hospitality sector, I am passionate about creating unforgettable experiences for visitors exploring Scotland. After travelling extensively around the world, I decided to return home and establish my own tour company, allowing me to share the landscapes, stories, and culture of Scotland in a more personal way. I love spending time outdoors capturing Scotland’s incredible landscapes, and this passion naturally carries over into my tours. I enjoy guiding throughout the country, but some of my favourite experiences include visiting the famous Outlander filming locations (I even appeared as an extra in Seasons 3 and 4!), exploring the dramatic beauty of the Isle of Skye, and travelling through the wild mountains and glens of the Scottish Highlands. Every tour I offer can also be customised to suit your interests, ensuring a truly personal Scottish experience.

If you are looking to experience the best of what Scotland has to offer in a day this is the tour for you. Visit the beautiful highland village called Luss which sits on the banks of Loch Lomond. Learn all about this conservation village and listen to the tales of it's medieval past as I will take you to a real Viking grave stone. Our next stop is one for photographic enthusiasts as we will make a stop at the 'Rest and be Thankful' to admire the stunning views of the Scottish Highlands. The mountain pass was given this name by the weary road workers who built the pass in 1753. We will then spend the rest of the day at Inveraray where we can visit the famous castle which is home to the present day chieftain of the Clan Campbell. Walk through the romantic castle gardens before taking a tour through the castle and discover the armory and tapestry rooms. If Inveraray Castle is closed, then I will take you to Kilchurn Castle to admire the stunning views over Loch Awe.
We had a tour of Western Scotland and it was a great experience from start to finish. James's knowledge and enthusiasm made the tour both informative and enjoyable. He has an impressive depth of knowledge about the country. He answered all questions and provided helpful recommendations for further trips. We highly recommend James.

I cannot say enough about how wonderful our day with James was! We are a party of 6 with some mobility issues in our group. James started the day with a wee dram of whisky on Loch Lomond and the beautiful town of Luss. James was so considerate of our group and so knowledgeable about his country. We had the most wonderful day out in Scotland with James. He made the tour very personal, sharing many Scottish traditions, stories, and special places with us. Excellent! Our guide Jamie wore an heirloom Scottish kilt. Started our tour with a lovely stop at Loch Lomond-Scottish breakfast with a friendship cup of Scottish whisky. Jamie was knowledgable and passionate about Scottish history, geography, and wildlife. What a wonderful way to experience the Scottish highlands! We highly recommend this tour and this guide! 5 stars!!
Our group of 4 travelers spent the day with James in the Highlands. He picked us up at our hotel in the center of the city. Prior to meeting James, I had shared our interests through the Tours by Locals site. He tailored the day to meet our objectives while providing expert commentary without overloading us. James is personable, interesting, and funny. We had a great day and I highly recommend him as a tour guide. We will use him again.
