In 1915 allied troops landed on the Gallipoli Peninsula in the northwest of Turkey. In a few months battles on the ridges of the peninsula stalemate of trench warfares forced allies to make an alternative landing further north of Anzac landing zone. On august 6th 1915 thousands of Britishmen started to come ashore at Suvla Bay and were to advance up to some heights. . . Rather than reading books and watching documentaries here walk in the land and try to understand what and how the men have felt situation they were in. Their feelings, hopes, anxieties, cheers. In this tour you will discover the hidden history of Gallipoli and WWI. Although not many people is aware of it, different stories are hidden in this plain. Follow the footsteps of 1/5 Sandringams, try to understand how the anvantages of one side moved to another side in hours/days. . .
Your Canakkale tour itinerary
-After meeting we drive to northern Anzac Battlefields and visit Hill 60 cemetery and NZ memorial. -We will navigate the surrounding key points and take photos in our free time. -After talking about the Hill 60 battles and the surroundings drive to Lala Baba Hill and observing British LZ around Nibrunesi Point, A, C, B Beaches and South Pier, Salt Lake, and the Cut. -Here in this section, we may walk some 4-5 km. depending on the season and the last situation of a creek bed. -Drive to Green Hill Cemetery. (Kazlar Chair, Hetman Chair, Deadmen's Gully, Chocolate Hill, Green Hill Battles). -Then drive to Suvla Point. On the way, Hill 10 and Azmac Cemetery, Scimitar Hill, and W Hills can be visited. . .
