Jamacho Nagarjun Hiking - 1 Day

Escape the bustle of Kathmandu and immerse yourself in nature and spirituality with a peaceful hike to Jamacho Gumba, a serene Buddhist monastery inside Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park. Just a short drive from the city, this half-day hike rewards you with sweeping views of the Kathmandu Valley, lush forest trails, and a glimpse into Nepal’s meditative heritage. We begin with a scenic drive to the Phulbari gate, where entry fees are covered. The uphill trail winds through rhododendron, pine, and oak forests, home to langurs, birds, and even deer. Along the path, prayer flags, small stupas, and quiet resting spots enhance the trail’s calming energy. Reaching the summit, you’ll explore the sacred Jamacho Monastery, a peaceful site of worship offering breathtaking vistas - on clear days reaching to the distant Himalayas. After time to rest, take photos, and soak in the serenity, we descend the same way back.

09:00 AM – Hotel Pick-up Meet at your hotel lobby, short introduction, and overview of the day. Drive 30 minutes to Nagarjun Forest Gate. 09:30 AM – Park Entrance (Phulbari Gate) Register with ID, collect entry tickets, and begin the hike through serene forest trails filled with birdsong and fresh mountain air. 11:30 AM – Jamacho Monastery (2,130m) Arrive at the summit for a short rest. Explore the small monastery, enjoy panoramic views of Kathmandu Valley and the distant Himalayas (weather permitting), with time for meditation, photos, or quiet reflection. 12:00 PM – Descent Hike back down the same scenic jungle path. 01:30 PM – Trailhead Arrival Refresh with bottled water and light snacks. Optional tea break at a nearby teahouse. 02:00 PM – Drive to Kathmandu Relax on the return journey. 02:30 PM – Hotel Drop-off End of tour.
