Ahmed met me at my Riad on time, and we walked a few blocks to his parked Mercedes SUV. This was a 10-hour excursion to the Atlas Mountains east of Marrakech and involved a 3-hour drive each way to get there. We travelled narrow, winding roads with sharp switchbacks and no guardrails—Ahmed proved to be an excellent driver. We drove into the Mountains to see Berber villages along the old caravan roads, crossing Tizi n’Tichka mountain pass. Stopped for lunch in a Berber village to enjoy traditional Moroccan food. After lunch, we went to the Kasbah village of Alt Ben Haddou and took photos. Then on to a Kasbah that was a Hollywood studio set, and then went to Ouarzazate, the door to the desert. The Kasbah there was damaged in the 2023 earthquake, so photos were taken from outside. Delightful tour with a knowledgeable, English-speaking guide, would use him again if I returned to Morocco.
