Hi everyone! My name is Martina and I am an enthusiastic art historian, with an M. A. degree from the University of Pisa. Thanks to my passion for art, architecture and local history, since 2007 I have been working as a Licensed Tour Guide and Tour Director in Tuscany and Cinque Terre. Meet up with your Licensed tour guide Martina and enjoy a bike ride through the historic center of Pisa, with stops at both famous and almost unknown places, while tasting typical products (like the delicious cecina, focaccia bread and pizza from an historical pizzeria, 'torta co' bischeri', organic gelato, pared with either artisanal bear or local wines) and stopping at artisans workshops. Besides giving you details about the history and traditions of Pisa, Martina will introduce you to the everyday life of this vibrant university city! Within the end of the tour you will reach the most famous 'field of Miracles' where the Leaning Tower stands out!
-Martina will pick you up at Pisa Centrale Train Station or Parking area in Via Fazio degli Uberti -You will walk to the bike rental to hire bycicles (it takes a few minutes) After a brief introduction, you will start a delightful bike ride through the historic centre of Pisa. Here you find the overall itinerary: -Corso Italia -Ponte di Mezzo with photo stop! --Lungarni, the two banks of the Arno river -Piazza Giuseppe Garibaldi - gathering place for students -Borgo stretto, with renaissance loggias, nice shops and historical cafes + Galileo Galilei's home -Piazza delle Vettovaglie, the market square since 1490s -Torre del Campano and the first site of Pisa University - Piazza dei Cavalieri (Knights' Square) , political centre of Pisa until 1562 -Piazza dei Miracoli, where the Leaning Tower stands out (you will spend 1h there) -medieval walls of Pisa, pass by without stopping -Chiesa di Santa Maria della Spina -Mural 'Tuttomondo' by Keith Haring You will finish the tour at the bike rental shop!
