A private winter tour in Lake Maggiore
Overview of your Stresa tour
Isola Pescatori is a little village of fishermen built hundreds of years ago in the middle of the lake. In some way, winter is the best time of the year to enjoy the charme of this island, since during the tourist season the village is sometimes overcrowded. We won't find many shops and bars open, but we'll be able to better enjoy the style of life of the 25 people that live on this island all year round. The church is also worth the visit: it was founded in the IX century and then rebuilt in the XVI and XVII century. A lot of couples come here to get married from all over the world! The boat will then take us around Isola Bella: we will admire the stunning ten terraces built in the XVII century where the Borromeo family made a beautiful baroque style garden, to complete their mansion built on the water. A 30-minute boat tour will take us to the hermitage of Santa Caterina del Sasso, a religious complex built between the XII and the XVI century and one of the most enchanting place of this region.
Your Stresa tour itinerary
We'll get on board of a private boat in Stresa or Baveno. The boat trip to Isola Pescatori is only 5 minutes. After visiting the island, we'll go by boat around Isola Bella and then head to Santa Caterina del Sasso (30 minutes). Desembarking is not possible only if the lake is very rough or if the lake level is too low or too high. In this case, we'll admire the complex from the boat. The visit at the hermitage lasts 30 minutes approx.
