These are the highlights of the region, but what about discovering the places off the beaten tracks? Overview of your Stresa tour
The Borromeo's Islands are the highlight of a stay at Lago Maggiore. The marvellous baroque palace and gardens built on ten artificial terraces on Isola Bella are the reason for which I started guiding! I guide my guests here almost every day and in my experience the late afternoon is the best time of the day to enjoy the charm of these gems. This tour will take you to Isola Bella when most of the other visitors have already left! Visiting the palace and the gardens in the afternoon is far more enjoyable than during the peak hours. We'll take a private boat at 4pm and in 10 minutes we'll be landing on the island and start our visit: we'll stroll in the richly ornate rooms of the "palazzo" and around the luxuriant gardens made on ten terraces. The warm afternoon light allows enchanting views on the lake and on the surrounding hills. After that, we'll visit the charming village of Isola Pescatori, where you can have dinner in a restaurant.
Your Stresa tour itinerary
• Take a private boat with driver in Stresa or Baveno to Isola Bella. • Slowly sail around the island and appreciate the terraced gardens. • Spend about one hour and a half on this island, visiting the inside of the somptous baroque palace and its gardens. • Transfer by boat to Isola Pescatori, visit the church and stroll around the lanes of this charming fishermen's village. The lights of sunset will give more magic to this village. You can decide to stop on Isola Pescatori for dinner and go back to Stresa or Baveno with the restaurants' shuttle boat. I'll take care of the reservation of the restaurant. Otherwise, • Go back to Stresa or Baveno by boat before dinner ***This is a suggested itinerary, let me know what you would like to see and do and I will customize the tour accordingly!
