Highlights of Cork in a half-day local experience

Historian dynamo Helena had to slow everything down as I injured my knee and hobbled around like a wooden leg pirate. Helena accommodated my situation, whilst conveying why the rebellious Cork natives still today carry the rebellious streak.i learned about the Magdalene laundry - inhumane treatment of young girls being pregnant out of wedlock. Helena and I finished off with a nice lunch where I learned about life in Cork and Ireland today. I have no hesitation in recommending Helena as a first class guide.

We had a splendid walking tour, covering a great deal of the city over four hours, learning the history, geography and geology of Cork, a truly wonderful city.

A very easy and light manner with a knowledge but relaxed approach! The rain was a bit of damper but it’s Ireland- so there you have it.

Very nice tour with Helena. She is very knowledgeable and good at giving background information in order to understand the historical context of the places that we visited. We felt that we had seen or visited most of the important historical sites in Cork and it gave us some good ideas were to go in the following several days that we were going to be in the city. Definitely recommend.
