Overview of your Pune tour
My Grandfather has written History and Geography books for school children. I have visited many forts and caves along with him. It was fun, 5-6 of us following him to see the places. Everytime I enjoy the view around . Sometimes monkeys follow us ! We drive 56 Km to Karla caves. Here climbing up the hill is fun as visitors from different towns, colourful shops and kiosks are along the way. Most of the visitors come to pay respect to Ekvira Devi adjacent to the caves.

The Buddhist caves at Karla are one of the finest example of ancient rock-cut caves tobe found in India. Karla caves were hewned around 100AD by Buddhist nuns. It has many Viharas whereby the monks stayed during their meditation period in the caves. Chaitya gruh ( prayer hall) is the grandest of all the other caves. Then we proceed to hill station Lonavala, 11km away. During monsoon season ( June --Sept.) the Sahyadri mountain transforms into lush green paradise blanketed in heavy fog. From Tiger point and Lion's point one can see beautiful valleys and cliffs. Local snacks--Kanda Bhaji -and roasted corn on the cob can be tasted.
