Biography Hello my name is Achilles . As you can see I was named after an ancient greek semi -god which carries a lot of history and fame. I was born in Athens . I am 62 years old. Both my parents are from Lesvos where I spent my summers growing up and the last 20 years I live here permanently with my Greek Canadian wife and three children . My love for tourism started from the 70's when my father took me to his work place where he worked as a maitre de' hotel at a neo classical hotel in Athens. The reason I moved to the island from the mainland was for the serenity and my love for the nature of Lesvos. It's no wonder that Aristotle himself came to the island to study the enviroment. The last few years I have been escorting tourists to the hidden treasures of my island. I take them to places where they wont find on a map and introduce them to local cuisine they wont find at restaurants. My hobbies include reading history books , nature walks off the beaten path, and cooking (Greek cuisine ) based on homegrown vegetables and my own olive oil. As my grandmother used to say if you have olive oil in your house you have everything!!! My traditional village is located on the western part of the island, but I deliver tours all over the island. We will explore the natural beauty and local gastronomy. On my tours I also share the local history, legends and old tales as we go along our journey. I look forward to meeting you in person on one of my tours , which can be customized to your preferences. Driving licence. First aid seminar. 5 years tourism experience as guide. I am not a licensed guide and will not be able to guide you inside of a museum.

Overview of your Lesbos tour
Lesvos is the island which gave birth to poets and muses. It's a place where Aristotle came to study nature and wildlife and thus the science of biology was born. Also it is the island which during the Trojan War , Achilles brought his ships and warriors to rest between battles. The name I was given is Achilles and from the time I understood the significance of my name and to be fortunate to live in this magnificent place, I started to study the history through books and myths of my homeland. Later in combination with the religious and cultural heritage I discovered many aspects of this beautiful place. I'm very proud and happy when I help people to get to know this place in depth and from the inside. Its no wonder that Petra and Molivos have become the most touristic places of the island. I will do my best to guide and inform you about the most important aspects of "Paradise Island", as the Ottomans used to call it!!!

We had a wonderful day with Achileas. We started our tour promptly from our hotel and travelled comfortably in an air conditioned car. Achileas was very professional and explained a lot about the history and traditions of Lesvos island. The little island villages are very picturesque and all the proposed sites that we visited are a must see. We particularly enjoyed visiting the unique church of Theotokos in Petra, which is built on a rock. The beauty of the church is unique and the view of the surroundings is amazing! We highly recommend this tour!

Achilles was a wonderful person to guide us through Lesbos. He had a superb knowledge of the island as well as Greek History. The beach at Petra was a sight to behold, and the lunch varied and excellent. The only reason we didn't give this tour five stars is the transportation, which is clearly not Achille's fault. The roads are narrow and all the cars are small--as was ours. It was a bit uncomfortable in the back seat for a relatively long drive around the island. But all in all, we enjoyed the experience and especially our time with Achilles.

Achilles is a true local! We enjoyed our tour of the Ouzo Factory where we were able to view the distillation process and purchase ouzo unavailable in the US. We had planned to visit a winery but it was not yet open, so we toured Mitylene and visited some great local shops.

Lesbos/mytilini is a quaint island that is peaceful, beautiful, and idyllic. Achilles is a kind, gentle, and extremely knowledgeable guide who helped us understand the island's history, showed us its beautiful highlights, and let us experience the island's magic. As a native of the island, whose family goes back many generations on Lesbos, Achilles was open, warm, and filled with stories that made the island come alive! Don't hesitate to spend yourself in his company for the day!
Your Lesbos tour itinerary
Suggested Itinerary: • We'll meet in the morning and start our journey from your hotel • First stop will be at Kalloni Bay area for a small walk around the town and an informative discussion of 'Aristotle's Lagoon '. • Next we will go to Molivos, we will walk through the narrow streets of the town and then we'll go up to the castle for sightseeing and take pictures. • Then we'll head down to Petra which means 'rock' in Greek. Petra takes its name from a giant rock formation in the center of the town. We will visit the church of the Virgin Mary on the top of the rock, a 114 step climb. Then we will visit local market to learn about Lesvos food and to see an ouzo distillery. • Then we will take a break for lunch and if weather permits maybe a swim in the sea. • Return to the hotel end rest.
