Overview of your Arles tour
Did you know that Arles is classified as a "city of art and history" and is listed as a world heritage site by UNESCO from 1981? Arles may not be the biggest Provençal city, but one of the richest. It is known mainly for its roman arena (a miniature Coliseum or Arénes), theatre, bath and Romanesque Saint Trophime Church, more recently la Tour Luma, (an art center deisgned by the architect Franck Gerry. Arles is so internationally known nowadays, thanks to the impressionist painter Vincent Van Gogh. Wandering through the streets, you will better understand the light that inspired him.
