Did you know that Arles is classified as a "city of art and history" and is listed as a world heritage site by UNESCO from 1981? Arles may not be the biggest Provençal city, but one of the richest. It is known mainly for its roman arena (a miniature Coliseum or Arénes), theatre, bath and Romanesque Saint Trophime Church, more recently la Tour Luma, (an art center deisgned by the architect Franck Gerry. Arles is so internationally known nowadays, thanks to the impressionist painter Vincent Van Gogh. Wandering through the streets, you will better understand the light that inspired him. In Arles, he painted the "Yellow House" (la Maison jaune), le Café la nuit, Starry night 3 and more. Anchored in the past, embodied in the present, traditions are sacred in Arles - the election of the Queen of Arles, the course camarguaise, the Spanish bull fighting, the guardians' festival. . . just follow me!
After we meet, we will go through the following spots: Place de la République with its obelisc, City Hall and St Trophime Church Roman amphitheatre Roman theatre Espace Van Gogh Place du Forum Walk along the Rhone River. *Itinerary can be customized to suit your needs. Feel free to message me.
