Hello Traveler, are you dreaming to discover the South of France? Look no further! I am Tanya, an experienced guide and art history enthusiast. Let me show you the regions I love most - Riviera and Provence, true sanctuaries for the senses! With over seven years of guiding experience across the enchanting regions of the French South but also of Paris, Normandy and the Loire Valley, I have honed my skills in providing immersive and unforgettable experiences to travelers from all corners of the globe. I am a Licensed guide and a graduate of the Sorbonne University and the Higher School of Fine Arts in Paris, with a Masters degree in Art History and Contemporary Art. Let's say, I "breathe art" and I pursue various artistic hobbies. My expertise in French history and art, garnered from guiding in iconic locations such as Versailles, the Louvre, the Musée d'Orsay, Normandy with D-Day landing beaches, Loire valley castles and many others, allows me to explain regional history within the larger context of France and art history. This provides a deeper understanding of the cultural tapestry that makes the French Riviera and Provence so unique. I hold a deep appreciation for French heritage and craftsmanship, actively fostering connections with local artisans and promoting sustainable practices rooted in historical traditions. Whether navigating picturesque routes with awe-inspiring viewpoints or unveiling hidden gems off the well-trodden trails, I am committed to ensuring your journey is not only informative but also visually breathtaking. As an avid art history enthusiast, I like bringing an extra layer of depth to your tours, weaving into the millennial history of France the life stories of such iconic artists as Monet, Cezanne, Renoir Picasso, Matisse and Chagall, who found inspiration in the captivating beauty of the Riviera and Provence. Considering communication to be the essence of successful journeys, I bring a wealth of cultural curiosity and multilingual fluency, cultivated through a life of global exploration. Bridging cultural gaps is not just a task but a wonderful experience, as I aim to infuse your adventure with positivity and an amiable persona. Every tour with me is a personalized, carefully curated and meticulously organized journey. Together, we will craft a tailor-made holiday that breathes life into your unique interests and passions, whether it's history, art, architecture, gastronomy, crafts, shopping, nature or simply unwinding on pristine beaches. I love the South of France so much because it is a perfect combination of stunning nature, authentic Provençal character and rich history with magnificent sights, delicious foods, glamorous feel and laid-back atmosphere, where we practice "the art of living" with passion and pride. Let's unlock the secrets of this mesmerizing region and create cherished memories together! This tour offers a comprehensive overview of Provence's history, Roman heritage, and modern art, complemented by marvelous viewpoints and an authentic feel. We will start in Arles, a picturesque city that boasts 70 monuments on the UNESCO World Heritage list. You will discover its stunning Roman amphitheater, dating back to 80 BC, which still hosts corridas, and walk in the footsteps of Vincent van Gogh through the city's winding streets lined with colorful houses, lively markets, medieval monuments, and charming cafés. Next, we will continue to one of the most beautiful villages in France with a breathtaking panorama—Les Baux-de-Provence—a 13th century castle of powerful lords, which used to be also an unassailable fortress. We will further visit the quaint little town of Saint-Rémy and, optionally, Saint-Paul-de-Mausole—the asylum where Van Gogh stayed for one year and produced 150 paintings, inspired by the beauty of the region.
I will pick you up in Marseille, Arles, or any other town in the area at your request. Old town of Arles: Roman theater and amphitheater (Coliseum), Saint-Trophime’s church and its cloister, the city hall inspired by Versailles, the Arletan Museum dedicated to local culture, the Van Gogh hospital (now an art space), Forum Square, and Emperor Constantine’s Roman baths. Les Baux-de-Provence: medieval village, panoramic viewpoints, and the ruins of the old castle and fortress, along with an impressive trebuchet. In Saint-Rémy and Saint-Paul-de-Mausole, we will walk in the footsteps of Van Gogh. Wine tasting can be included in this tour upon request, if time allows. Another option upon request: Carrières des Lumières - an immersive digital art experience near Les Baux. At the end of the tour, I will bring you back to your hotel, cruise ship terminal, or a restaurant of your choice.
