I offer you a great alternative that lets you enjoy the stunning scenery of the Andes while traveling from Cuenca to Quito or vice-versa. This area is known as the "Avenue of the Volcanos". Explore some of the highest Volcanoes in the country's such as Cotopaxi, Chimborazo, Tungurahua, then Inca ruins, immerse into the Indigenous markets, feel the country's hacienda life, and more.
Day 1: Departure from Cuenca - Ingapirca Ruins - Alausi We will explore the most important Canari-Inca site in Ecuador. There we will have the chance to explore the only elliptical temple of the sun made of perfectly carved stones. Day 2: Devil's Nose Train - Riobamba - Banos One of the finest and most daring feats of engineering that the world had seen. Descending switchbacks down a shear the train connects the Andes mountains to the coast. Then we will drive to Baños, depending on the weather conditions we might see Chimborazo, the heights volcano in Ecuador. Day 3: Full day in Baños We will explore the famous "Waterfalls Route" including the Pailon del Diablo. We will also visit the tree house from where we will have the chance to enjoy the view of the Tunguragua volcano. Day 4: Quilotoa Lake - Indigenous Market - Quito Depending on the day of the week we might have the chance to include an indigenous market. Then we will drive through the Ecuadorian highlands visit Quilotoa lake. Drop off in Quito
