Departing either from Cuenca or Guayaquil, this beautiful drive allows travelers to enjoy fascinating views. The trip includes a visit to Cajas National Park and we will also visit a cacao farm in the lowlands. Javier was again, an amazing guide! He picked us up exactly at 9:00 (door-to-door service). J was full of local information as we drove from Cuenca to Guayaquil. We stopped & completed a 3 km hike near the Andes continental divide; we stopped for lunch at a fine dining restaurant (very reasonable $); a ton of history on the road making to Cuenca. Still shocks me! We dropped into the flatland. Visited a chocolate making farm. Incredible! Javier then made sure we got to our hotel safely. Awesome day!! ����❤

We wish we could give ten stars! Javier worked with us to design a tour that catered to our needs. We were worried about high altitude, so Javier designed a tour that still was the highlight of our trip. He has so many connections to excellent resources. We took a hike, rode a canoe in the beautiful mangrove swamp to see an amazing array of birds, with no other people! Javier is the best guide we had in Ecuador.

Your Cuenca tour itinerary

The tour starts regularly in Cuenca. However, we can arrange a Guayaquil pick up and do it the way around. For example: from Guayaquil we will drive through the beautiful farming area of the lowlands where we will see the great diversity of products that are grown here. After driving an hour, we will visit one of the local cacao farms where the natives will show us some very interesting features. The guide will explain the importance and history of cacao. We will find not only cacao beans but also bananas, coffee, passion fruit and more. We continue our drive upwards to the highlands through the famous Andes, where we will find Toreadora in Cajas National Park. This park is one of the most important protected areas in the south of Ecuador and the main source of water for the city of Cuenca. I am a naturalist guide and I will make sure you marvel at the beautiful scenery and unique vegetation found in this area. We will do a hike through moorland ecosystems to explore the Polylepis forest and some lakes.
