We had a fantastic cultural immersion tour in Hong Kong with Kiyo. He and his driver met us promptly at our hotel, and we began the day in the plaza near the historic Judiciary Building. As a native Hong Konger, Kiyo shared fascinating insights into daily life during the British period and how it has evolved under the Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China. His knowledge of Hong Kong’s economic development—especially in banking, finance, and real estate—brought depth and context to every stop. We visited Victoria Peak for stunning city views, then continued to Repulse Bay and a charming fishing village, where we cruised through the harbor on a traditional sampan. Lunch was a wonderful experience as Kiyo guided us through authentic Chinese dishes and local dining customs. It was a terrific day filled with learning, culture, and fun. Kiyo is an exceptional guide—professional, personable, and incredibly knowledgeable. Highly recommended!
Kiyo was an amazing tour guide. We have used Tours By Locals all over the world and he ranks as one of the best. Knowledgable, fun, and interesting. Best of all…we could understand his accent with no problems. We would highly recommend him to others looking for an exceptional experience.
Kiyo was an excellent tour guide. We had an 11 hour layover in Hong Kong and he personalized a day tour for us which was incredible. We were able to visit the city center, ride the ferry, and get a real sense of the history before going to Lantau Island. The cable car and visit to the Buddha and monastery were incredible. We also walked through small fishing village. My kids were excited to try some favorite local snacks. Kiyo made the day logistically seamless, very fun, and he is obviously an experienced guide with a lot of expertise. Highly recommend Kiyo!
I rarely leave reviews—not because I receive poor service, but because most experiences are simply good, not memorable. This one was different. My family of four had only three days in Hong Kong, and I wanted a private tour with a true local to make the most of our time. While researching guides, Kiyo immediately stood out. His photos and reviews made it clear he was the right choice. Our family had very different interests: my son and I loved the history and culture, while my wife and daughter preferred the fun and experiential side. Kiyo custom-curated a tour that balanced both perfectly and kept everyone engaged. His passion for Hong Kong is infectious, and he went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We enjoyed the day so much that we invited him to dinner on Christmas Day. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide or person to show us his city.
This was an amazing tour and our TBL guide Kiyo was outstanding! Kiyo’s tour of Hong Kong goes way beyond the typical tourist sights. We did those but he also showed us Hong Kong life. We saw neighborhoods and housing and learned about religion and family life. Kiyo also treated us to some local snacks and food. This was a really fun in depth tour of Hong Kong and its life and people. Plus Kiyo was such a fun guy to be with. In minutes he felt more like a friend than a guide. Take this tour with Kiyo if you want to really experience Hong Kong with a local who knows how to show what it’s all about!
