I first came to Orkney for a holiday in November 2012 and fell in Love with the place, so much so that we moved here August 2013. I have always been an outdoors person enjoying walking canoeing and trips on our narrow-boat. My working life has always involved people, firstly as a nurse for people with learning difficulties, followed by a Youth worker. Afterward, I became a self-employed social photographer, doing weddings, schools, and portraits. Moving to Orkney has reignited my love for rope work and knot tying and I spend quite a lot of time collecting washed-up fishing rope which I then turn into door mats. I'm generally an enthusiastic person, still keen to learn, and eager to show others the things on offer here, my delight is when I tell someone something that they didn't know they wanted to know! I like to think I take a relaxed and informal approach to guiding, with the flexibility to change and adapt tours to get the most out of your Orkney experience. Mary gave this tour in lieu of her husband Mark, and she was incredible. Not only personable, but so well versed in both the history and geography of the Orkney Islands. Mary drove us all over the island and walked us through several major sites, as well as a short cliff walk and a visit to a gorgeous golf course. Visiting Orkney island for the first time? Then this is the tour and the tour guide for you. Mark was wonderful and enlightening. Obvious that he loves his island and telling visitors all about it. So much history on this small island that the average visitor would not know. We learned so much from Mark and truly enjoyed the day.

We had a very memorable tour with Mark. He showed us the beauty and history of Orkney as we had requested. He was personable and interesting. Always punctual, dealt smoothly with some itinerary hiccups caused by weather, had a great vehicle and drove safely.

Marc provided a great view of the island allowing us to visit and learn about the truly unique and very interesting places. We explored the diversity of the island from ancient times to Neolithic sites and also saw the beautiful landscapes.
