Creative Walk: A Full Day Tour of Local Orkney Beach

Mark is a local who made our time in Kirkwall extra special. We combined his tour options and were so glad we did!! Great balance of island history, sites and lore combined with creativity and take home art. Do not pass this up! Mark has a depth of historical knowledge along with everyday local insight. He is kind, funny, and a great conversationalist and listener both. He is very prompt to reply to inquiries. Mark will go out of his way to make sure your time in Kirkwall is memorable. Honestly our favorite port. You are in g great hands with Mark!

This was a great and unusual tour - definitely off the beaten track! You will NOT run into hordes of other tourists on this expedition! Be forewarned, though - these are not soft sandy beaches. Be prepared to walk along rocky beaches and unmarked pathways to get the best chances of finding goodies! Due to the sunny and calm weather conditions, we didn't find much rope washed up on the beaches, so when we went to the workshop, we learned how to make our own rope (and to make some cool stuff with that). ��

What a fun tour by Mark. In contrast to most tours, this was hands on, dynamic and creative. We each left with our own handmade memories of our day. Mark is a good teacher of his craft and has a cheerful, friendly demeanor. He's also a good tour guide - as we drove around the island he enthusiastically shared details and stories beyond the scope of our tour. I highly recommend Mark and his beach art-crafting tour.
