Cruise excursion Tour of Orkney 5 to 5.5 hours

By the time we said goodbye to Mary we felt like we made a friend! She was very accommodating to our needs and flexible. Her knowledge of Orkney’s history was outstanding. Mary also picked out a great place to buy sweaters and a beautiful and tasty place for lunch! We highly recommend Mary! If she makes it to Philadelphia I would love to show her our history.

Mary was very warm and welcoming to our group she made suggestions that we would see everything important on the island Her knowledge of the areas which we visited We asked to her if we could show us the Hairy Pigs and she delivered We saw the beautiful countryside and sprawling bodies of water from Norht Sea to Atlantic Ocean

We had a wonderful day with Mary, who picked us up at the port and made everything easy. After a quick chat, we started our adventure. First, we visited the fascinating Pictish stones, enjoying the beautiful landscapes. Next, we went to Skara Brae. Although the main site was closed, we watched a video, saw a replica hut, and heard insights from a local staff member. At the Kirbuster Museum, we discovered interesting artifacts, and then we visited the Italian Chapel, where we learned its history and got to see some amazing views. Mary surprised us with delicious shortbread she had picked up after hearing we liked Shortbread from another tour we talked about with her. At the end of the day, she offered to drop us off at the ship or downtown, and we appreciated her excellent recommendations for our time in town. We highly recommend Mary as a tour guide for your Kirkwall visit!

Mary is a gem. She knows so much about the history of Orkney Islands and the tour was just right. She is very flexible with schedules, eating etc. she gave us plenty of time at each venue. We truly enjoyed her.

Mary is a delightful and knowledgeable guide who took us to many of Orkney’s historical sites. She explained the importance of each site, gave information about Orkney life, culture, and made us all want to revisit in the future! The beautiful and haunting landscapes and the long history of human habitation in this intriguing place will remain with us.
