Stay a couple of nights at hot spring village and hike around Togakushi, Kamikoshi and Hakuba is a wonderful choice. I lived in Canada for 10 years .I have a great understanding of Japanese society and culture, and I'll be your cultural interpreter for your time in Japan to be the best use of. Would you like to travel at ease? Would you like to see country side of Japan which is rich in nature and traditions with a friendly local guide? Then please join my tour! Come and meet the Japanese wild monkeys and experience the magic of being very close to wild animals! In green season, they are not in the bath as much, but instead you'll get to see adorable new-born babies, which are born in May/June. The park is not crowded with tourists in green season which make it easy for you to take photos and enjoy quiet time in nature. I will tell you all about the interesting history of why they have this strange custom. It is worthwhile coming to Nagano to see these adorable monkeys and the beautiful country side of Japan, being away from touristy big cities. #This tour is available in winter with the same itinerary.
Our little group really enjoyed our tour with Eriko. She smoothed out our travels and got us moving and on track to get to the snow monkey park in a timely fashion. It was great to rely on here to keep track of the time. Loved having the opportunity to ask questions about all sorts of topics!!!
Our snow monkey tour with Eriko was a highlight of our trip. She was attentive and very knowledgeable on how to navigate the best transportation routes to the site. Eriko was an absolutely fantastic guide! She was kind, patient, incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic, we were very lucky to have got to experience the Snow Monkeys with her. She definitely helped make it one of the most memorable days of our whole time in Japan.
Eriko has been very helpful from the moment she was assigned/selected to be our guide. She helped us with local logistics before we travelled from the US, and helped us navigate the trains to get where we needed. Our tour to the Snow Monkeys was a great walk through the forest to the site of the hot springs. Unfortunately, that day, the monkeys did not make an appearance, but the walk and local history/details were welcomed greatly. She is knowledgable and helpful, also helping us with logistics.

Meet the guide at Nagano station Take a local train, admiring scenery of country side. Take a taxi/bus to the entrance of the trail 40 mins walk in the forest. Japanese call a walk in forests 'Shinrinyoku' (forest bathing in English because your entire being is being immersed in healing energy) Enjoy the monkey park being close to the wild monkeys. *There are times that the monkeys are absent from the park. In that case I will provide an alternative options. *In winter we usually see the Snow Monkeys in the bath, but in other seasons there will be times when they hang out in the water, but please know that the monkeys are wild animals and there is no guarantee they are in the bath. 30mins walk back in the trail Snow Monkey Cafe ( If time allows till the bus comes, you can enjoy "Snow monkey hot chocolate" or famous apple pie.)
