Stay a couple of nights at hot spring village and hike around Togakushi, Kamikoshi and Hakuba is a wonderful choice. I lived in Canada for 10 years .I have a great understanding of Japanese society and culture, and I'll be your cultural interpreter for your time in Japan to be the best use of. Being close to wild animals is a magical experience. It worth staying a night at Shibu/Yudanaka hot spring village which is a wonderful cultural experience, strolling around the traditional village in kimono and relaxing in hot springs. Please book accommodation yourself. Day 2 Please choose 3 options from below OR Matsumoto castle 1400yrs old Zenkoji temple, a sacred fire ceremony at Daikanjin temple, Sake brewery for sampling, Explore town center in Obuse, Gansyoin temple to see the ceiling painting by Hokusai, Local traditional food Oyaki
Day1 (6hrs) 9:30 Nagano Sta 9:50 Train, enjoying the view of country side 10:50Taxi/Bus 1 1:15 40 minutes walk in the forest 12pmMonkey park *The trail is slippery with snow and ice in winter. It is a MUST to wear a non slippery shoes. *In winter we usually see the Snow Monkeys in the bath, but in other seasons there will be times when they hang out in the water, but please be aware that the monkeys are wild animals and there is no guarantee they are in the bath. *There are times that the monkeys are absent. In that case I'll provide alternative activities. 1:30 Walk back 3pm Hotel in Shibu hot spring village It is a nice cultural experience to take a short walk at the evening(open-air foot bath, shrines and traditional buildings) Day2 (6hrs) Please choose 3 options below OR Matsumoto castle 1, 1400 years old Zenkoji temple 2, Sake brewery for sampling and facility tour 3, Gansyoin temple in Obuse 4, Explore town center of Obuse 5, Local food Oyaki(Watch local grandmas bake dumplings over wood fire)

Train, Taxi/Bus, Walk (We'll walk the trail to the monkey park for 30 minutes. The trail can be slippery with compacted snow or muddy in winter. Please wear non-slippery and water-proof winter shoes, and warm clothes.)
