Wild Snow Monkey Park in Nagano - 7hr Private Tour

This is our second tour with Setsuko on this trip and we are very happy that we were able to get the same guide for both Tokyo and the Snow Monkeys. The trip up to the snow monkey park was a welcome relief from being mostly in cities for the rest of our holiday. The walk up to the park through the cedar forest was almost as good as being able to get so close to the monkeys. It’s amazing that they seem oblivious to the human presence and will wander past quite closely, our 2 year old grand daughter was fascinated. We capped of the day with a foot onsen at the local town before catching the train back to Nagano Thanks again Setsuko.

Setsuko was a wealth of information and took us on a very wintry day to see the snow monkeys. It is a full days trip. We came in from Tokyo on the shinkansen arriving 8:35 am and arrived back at Nagano station around 3pm. This left plenty of time to look around the great food court/ shopping area before our train back. Setsuko helped navigate us around the bus tickets, walk to the monkeys, local ramen lunch near park , helping us to shop at the station. All great! Would recommend getting the crampon spikes for boots and be prepared for snow. The walking route does take 30-40min one way and is slower if you are inching along on slippery boots!

Great tour with Setsuko to see the Snow Monkeys! Definitely one of the highlights of our time in Japan! Setsuko also arranged a wonderful private tour of a Miso Brewery in Obuse. We also stopped for sake tasting and a nice visit to the Hokusai Museum. Had time for chestnut and milk ice cream before catching the train back to Nagano. Setsuko shared many interesting tidbits about the sights as well as of life in Japan. Highly recommended!

We had a magical day with Setsuko as she took us to see the adorable snow monkeys at Snow Monkey Park. Setsuko was knowledgable, cheerful and patient as we navigated a walk through a heavy snow fall to get to the monkeys. Our reward at the end was to see dozens of cute monkeys bathing and relaxing in the onsen. Our tour concluded with a delicious ramen lunch nearby and ice cream for my kids. A perfect day with Setsuko!
