Hiking in a natural park and a historical city in Saxony, seriously damaged by bombing, but reborn

First we will visit Bastei. The Bastei is a rock formation towering 194 metres above the Elbe River in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains of Germany. Reaching a height of 305 metres above sea level, the jagged rocks of the Bastei were formed by water erosion over one million years ago. They are the major landmark of the Saxon Switzerland National Park. The Bastei has been a tourist attraction for over 200 years.
After the lunch (not included) we will continue to Dresden which has a moving history - it was chosen as a target for bombing by the allies in 1945 and was almost destroyed. However, during the past 30 years it was reconstructed and now for sure is worth a visit. I recommend the visit of the so called Green Vault, a fairy-tale treasury with the most exquisite jewels I have ever seen. In December, Dresden has amazing Christmas markets.
