I am passionate about our beautiful, quirky, historic city and its famous river. I'm a Native Texan and a downtowner for 40 years - come with me to discover surprising secrets, scandalous stories, hidden art, vibrant murals, and handsome architectural details that will enrich your visit to San Antonio. The urban environment rewards those with a keen eye who are curious and appreciate what many never see, tend to overlook, or know very little about - this is the San Antonio you will experience on my satisfyingly real tours. One of my greatest pleasures is sharing San Antonio and enabling others to experience its charming peculiarities from a local perspective. Everyone on my tour receives a list of my recommended places to eat - all locally owned and all places where the real people go. Also, I can adapt and create tours for larger groups via bus or van, if desired. Please join me - I look forward to meeting you. Ghost signs? Yes! Ghost signs can be found throughout the world especially in older cities, like 300+ year old San Antonio. Often ghost signs are advertisements painted on buildings that have survived the business or product being promoted. Sometimes the signs are more subtle and appear embedded in sidewalks. Advertising signs made of tile or terrazzo can be found, too. Also, billboards and blade signs! This entertaining walkabout will reveal a broad variety of ghost signs, provide information regarding the product or business now disappeared, and train your eye to watch for and appreciate ghost signs - they are everywhere, hiding in plain sight, you only have to look.
Our walking tour will weave through downtown - from main streets to tucking into alleys and turning on side streets to reveal wonderful surprises. We will walk across multiple surfaces, including some that may be uneven; however, our route will be fully accessible to persons mobility impaired.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
