Hello! As a Certified International Tour Manager I've discovered my passion for showing people the places that I love. I'm excited to use this passion to show off my home state of Rhode Island! When trying to decide "what I want to be when I grow up, " I knew that I loved teaching, and I loved working with people, but I enjoy being outside and on the move far too much to be a classroom teacher. I feel extremely fortunate to have discovered this career where I can do all of the things that I love. I've been leading various types of tours since 2009, including tours of historic sites, walking tours, and coach tours. I've lead tours across the United States, Ireland, and in the U. K. I'm enthusiastic about history and love sharing that with people in an interactive and exciting way, so if you'd like to learn about my home state-- come take a walk with me! At this time I am only providing walking tours. - Certified International Tour Manager, International Guide Academy 2012 - MA in Art History, Brooklyn College 2012 Please note- if you are looking for tours inside any of the Mansions in Newport, you'll have to contact them directly as they do not allow outside guides to give tours inside the homes.

Overview of your Newport tour

This walking tour will specifically discuss the period of time known as the "Gilded Age", originally a satirical term coined by Mark Twain to refer to the disparity of wealth in the late 19th to early 20th centuries. You'll hear the stories of these seasonal mansions, their owners, and their staff members who made running them possible, all while walking through the beautiful Bellevue Avenue district of Newport. The walking tour is conducted from the exterior of all buildings, but there is an opportunity at the end for you to visit the Breakers (or if you prefer, a different house) If you intend to tour the Breakers after the walking tour, I recommend downloading the Newport Mansions app prior to the tour and bringing your headphones with you for the best experience. *DO NOT DRIVE YOUR CAR TO THE TOUR STARTING LOCATION* There is no public parking along the walking route unless you are purchasing a ticket to visit one of the mansions-there is public transportation available and Uber/Lyft services available

Your Newport tour itinerary

The walk will start at Rough Point at the southern end of Bellevue Ave and end at the Breakers. This is approximately a 1. 5 mile walk. Along the walk we will see the following sites: - Rough Point - Belcourt Castle - Marble House - Salve Regina University - The Breakers By viewing these various summer cottages, you'll observe the changing styles that were in fashion as the gilded age came into being and then flourished. As this is a walking tour, all buildings will be viewed from the exterior. If you are interested in a shorter walking route or having the opportunity to see the inside of a property, please contact me and I can customize a tour that reflects those changes. *Please be advised there are no public restrooms along the tour route until the end destination is reached*
