This beautiful city was nicknamed the Paris of the Plains in the early 1900s, because of its "sinful" nightlife. An article in the Omaha World-Herald began, "If you want to see some sin, forget about Paris and go to Kansas City. " The reporter and his photographer visited our red-light district, night clubs and gambling houses.

Today, we prefer to promote our jazz, barbecue, world-class professional sports teams and friendly people. Many visitors are unaware that KC is known as the City of Fountains, boasting more fountains than Rome, until they see them for themselves.

From the comfort of a hired vehicle (car, van, or 14-passenger van), we'll explore the history and culture of this city, and if we're lucky, we'll smell the barbecue from the open window!

Kansas City Highlights - Streetcar & Strolling Combo Tour

This tour explores one my top 5 favorites in Kansas City, The Union Station. We'll step inside to see where rail trains became Kansas City's lifeblood with the industrial revolution. We'll also reach upper levels inside and take a bird's eye view of all the gorgeous architecture, while I tell you about life on the trains.

We'll step into the grand hall and imagine what life was like in the 1930s during WWI and the thousands of people's that pass through there on a daily basis. Outside the station there's a wonderful view of the WWI Tower. Here you'll learn a little bit about that museum and surrounding buildings.

The street car is new to Kansas City and is rapidly expanding. Every chance I have, I take the street car. From here we can travel through the city stopping at a few locations to check out some of the fountains that make Kansas the City Of Fountains.

We will journey to the City Market area to see where the Confluence of the Kansas and Missouri Rivers, Lewis & Clark Expedition began, and more!

On this tour, we'll explore the east and west Crossroads Arts Districts, walk through awe-inspiring alleyways, climb to a surprising rooftop, and view as many murals as possible.

One of the things Laura loves best about this tour is showcasing a side of KC that isn't always seen. Walking through Artist Alley is eye-popping, rich with vibrant color and imagery. If we're lucky, an artist will be working on a project during the tour.

Join me on a walking tour of the famous Kansas City Plaza. Here, you'll learn about how this Midwest high end shopping district came from pig farms and factories in the early 1920's through the vision of one man, J. C. Nicholas.

When I was a child, my family would go "for a drive" for fun, and this was my favorite place to drive through because it's so beautiful, and what my young self considered "fancy". Sometimes we'd stop for a picnic near the fountain park. Holiday season always included an annual drive-by to see the lights that outlined the entire 15 blocks of buildings. Truly stunning.

With over 80 fountains (2nd only to Rome!) and statues, we will see renditions of Pomona the Roman Goddess of Vineyards, the Roman God Bacchus and many more. Recent artist include Arthur Kraft, Bernhard Zuckerman & Glenna Goodacre, best knows for her work on the Sacagawea dollar coin.

Every fountain and statue has a story and I truly enjoy sharing them with you. I hope you'll join me when you're here in Kansas City.

Join me for a walking tour through the Lawn of Nelson Atkins Museum to see dozens of works of art by artists including Henry Moor, Geroge Segal, Claes Oldenburg and Cooseje Van Burggen among many more!

One of my favorites is The Three Bowls by Ursula Von Rydingsvard. The wonderful smell of the wood takes me back to days of my childhood explorations, and later being able to share that with my own children and scouting groups.

We even have The Thinker by Aguste Rodin. How amazing is this! Also, if you are a fan of Henry Moore this is the place for you! There's tens of works of him including Sheep Piece. Among the sculptures we'll see are the Three Part Object, the Large Totem Head, and the Reclining Connected Forms and many more.

Others worth mentioning include Roxy Pline's Silvery tree titled Ferment and standing Figures by Magdalena Abakanowicz.

Laura will direct your driver on the best routes, and, depending on your time constraints, will include pre-determined stops along the way to lead your group on brief strolls on foot at specific locations.
