We had an absolutely wonderful day with Visions of Nature in Haines. From start to finish, Tom was an amazing guide. His knowledge of the area, wildlife, and local history was impressive, and his passion for Haines made the experience even more special. What really stood out was how thoughtfully Tom planned our day. He carefully timed and organized the tour to maximize our chances of seeing bears in their natural habitat, and it paid off. We were fortunate enough to see Lulu and her four cubs from a remarkably close and safe distance. Watching these beautiful animals in the wild was truly one of the highlights of our Alaska trip. After the bear viewing, Tom helped us make the most of our time in Haines by showing us the area's beautiful scenery and local sights. We never felt rushed, and the entire day was perfectly paced. Beyond being an exceptional guide, Tom was warm, personable, and genuinely enjoyable to spend the day with. We left feeling that we had not only experienced the best of Haines but had also made a new friend. I have been a naturalist all of my life, and have enjoyed being a tour guide for over a decade. My passions include photography and local history. Tom is not only a very knowledgeable guide to the Haines area, he is also a great story teller. He is also a fantastic photographer and showed us some of his most impressive shots. He adapted the tour to the physical limitations of our party, and we still were able to see a lot of history, scenery, and three bears (he is the bear monitor for the area).
Truly outstanding. Tom was one of the highlights of our trip to Alaska. We are so glad we did not take the touristy train to Skagway! If you want to see the REAL Alaska, go no further.
