Hi everyone. My name is George. I have been involved in outdoor education, excursions and tours for the past 23 years. My experiences as an instructor with the Outward Bound Schools, as a National Park Ranger, a Ridge Runner for the Appalachian Trail Conference and Outdoor Adventure Guide for the Biltmore Estate, have taught me how to create memorable experiences my guests will remember for the rest of their lives. I love hiking, nature, history and culture and I am passionate about helping others enjoy all that Asheville and Western North Carolina has to offer. I have one of the greatest jobs in the world because I get to spend time with great people just like you and share unique lifetime experiences. Asheviile is surrounded by over 2, 000 acres of federal and state forests with over 250 waterfalls a short drive from downtown. The area also offers scenic drives along the Blue Ridge Parkway with breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The City of Asheville has been the tourist destination for over 130 years. Attracting many famous people like F. Scott Fitzgerald, Henry Ford, Thomas Edison and others. George Vanderbilt chose to make Asheville his home. In addition to the unique historical architecture and world class cuisine the city hosts over 200 locally owned art galleries and 60 micro-breweries. Luxurious hotels and B&B's are plentiful for your relaxation. Three years ago my wife, Sue, and I decided to create premium private tours customized to each guests interest. There are no tours we cannot create to capture the experience you want to have. We offer walking tours of Historic Asheville and guided hikes for all ages and fitness levels. We'd love to hear from you and help you create an experience of a lifetime. Shoot me an email and let's start to plan your personal Western North Carolina adventure. All tours are operated under the authority of the State and Federally managed lands we use for our tours. I have permits for the Blue Ridge Parkway, Pisgah National Forest, Duponts State Forest, and Mount Mitchell State Park. I have 21 years guiding experience and trained as a Master Leave No Trace operator. None

Overview of your Asheville tour

IF YOU PLAN TO GO TO THE BILTMORE ESTATE, THIS TOUR IS A MUST. Learn the life and vision of George Vanderbilt more than you will ever learn on a tour of the Biltmore. Biltmore Village was a gateway community to his fabulous Estate. See pictures of how the Village looked like over 120 years ago. I have been guiding on the Biltmore Estate for over 8 years and I am passionate about sharing who George Vanderbilt really was and the vision for estate and the legacy he wanted to create. Mr. Vanderbilt's visionary mind, which was far beyond othersof his time, and what he did is still so important to us today in protecting our forests. Did you know he had developed the first forest management program in America? Our forest managers all over the country still use the principles of his plan today to manage over 100 million acres of national forests and national parks. He started the first school of forestry which became the foot-print for our forest service.
