Our forest managers all over the country still use the principles of his plan today to manage over 100 million acres of national forests and national parks. He started the first school of forestry which became the foot-print for our forest service.

Just sit back and take in the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

I will pick you from your lodging and drive you north along the Blue Ridge Parkway, a national scenic drive described by many as the most beautiful drive in America. We will stop at Little Switzerland for lunch (Little Switzerland does not take reservations at this time but this may change in the next few weeks). From the restaurant at Little Switzerland you will have beautiful views of the mountains.

You can then shop at some of the quaint shops at the Lodge. We will then drive to Mount Mitchell State Park and view the scenery from our vehicle or take a short paved path to the summit of the tallest mountain east of the Mississippi. There is an optional 3/4 mile Nature Trail we could take if you want to stretch your legs a little.

You will lose yourself in the beauty of the mountains as you experience Nature at its Best on this tour of a lifetime. I can't wait to meet you.

Best Of The Best Waterfalls near Asheville, Blue Ridge Parkway, Pisgah Inn, optional lunch at picnic area

Let's get out and enjoy nature at its best. If you love big, powerful waterfalls, this is the tour for you.

First, I will pick you up from your lodging and drive you to Dupont State Forest. We will take a 2 mile moderate hike to see two of the largest waterfalls in Western North Carolina. One of these falls was featured in the movie The Last of the Mohicans. I will then drive you to Pisgah National Forest to view Looking Glass Falls. Looking Glass is right beside the road so there is no hiking to view this beautiful waterfall. This beautiful waterfall is used is used by the Tourism Bureau to attract visitors to the area. There is about 2 1/2 miles of moderate hiking on this tour.

We will then drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway, stop to take photos and grab a snack, beverage or restroom break at the Pisgah Inn. Before our short walk to where George Vanderbilt had his hunting lodge near the top of Mount Pisgah.

Biggest waterfalls near Asheville, Brevard, Hendersonville, Dupont State Forest

Sit back and enjoy the views as you ride with me south along the iconic Blue Ridge Parkway. Along the way I will explain the history of this area and the 50 year development of the parkway. There will be plenty of stops for photos and mountainous views of over 30 miles. This section of the Parkway was once part of the Biltmore Estate and mirrors the trail once used to travel to the Vanderbilt's Summer Home. You will have the option to take a short walk to the location of their summer home, Buck Spring Lodge, while on the tour. From here we will drive into Pisgah National Forest to view one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Western North Carolina. As we return along the Parkway we include a stop at the Pisgah Inn for snacks, shopping, beverages and more beautiful views of the mountains. This tour is only available from April to November due to Parkway closures.

We will have lunch at one of our specialty restaurants in our downtown according to your tastes.

We will then take an easy walk thru the downtown talking about the famous people who have and still live here, the unique culture of this special place, the amazing history, and the fantastic architecture of many of our downtown buildings. Sit back, relax, and enjoy mountain views on a short drive with me on this Asheville hiking tour to some of the highest waterfalls in Western North Carolina. These waterfalls have been featured in major motion pictures and advertisements for our state.

As we walk along the Little River we'll discuss the history of this beautiful area and its natural development. You have options regarding the length of this hike which can run between 2. 5 and 3. 5 miles and features between 2 and 3 waterfalls. We can also explore a covered bridge at the top of the falls or, if the weather is warm, go for a swim. This is an iconic adventure that the whole family can enjoy and you won't want to miss!
After hiking to waterfalls we will return through Pisgah National Forest to view a stunning waterfall. You can choose to view from the top or walk to the base and experience the power of the falls.

We will walk through the Grove Arcade created as one of the first indoor shopping malls in America, the Basilica, and Cathedral of All Souls built by George Vanderbilt. You will enjoy the unique architecture of many of the downtown buildings. Asheville sports the second largest collection of art-deco in America. Your day will start when I pick you up in a luxury SUV and head to the Blue Ridge Parkway. We will head north towards the highest elevation east of the Mississippi River with viewing stops along the way.

You will see amazing vista's over 60 miles on a clear day with unparalleled natural beauty. We will arrive at a quaint mountain community, Little Switzerland, for a tasty luncheon in the mountains at the Switzerland Inn while you continue to enjoy spectacular views. After lunch you will have the opportunity to browse through the village shops before we head back down the mountain.

Our return trip will have two options 1) a stop at Mount Mitchell where you can walk to the highest peak on the Blue Ridge Parkway or 2) a stop at the Blue Ridge Parkway Folk Arts Center featuring local artisans work for sale and a Folk Art Museum . Your tour will end when you are dropped off at your hotel or location of your choice.

While the building are no longer there I will tell you where George Vanderbilt stood when he looked out across the Blue Ridge Mountains.

River Stroll and Waterfall, Pisgah National Forest. Blue Ridge Parkway, optional lunch at a beautiful picnic area

Join me on this beautiful stroll along the Davidson River before we head to Looking Glass Falls. Looking Glass is used by the Western North Carolina Tourism Bureau to attract visitors to the area. Very beautiful.

We will take an easy walk about 2-3 miles along the Davidson River. We will watch the fly fisherman test their skill at catching some of the rainbow trout that is stocked into this river. The trail is flat and has an even surface which makes for good walking. If you are brave enough you can dunk your feet into the 52 degree water.

Looking Glass is a short drive to one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Western North Carolina. Looking Glass is located right beside the road so there is no hiking here.

We can have lunch at a great deli in Brevard or deli at the Pisgah Inn located on the Blue Ridge Parkway. From the IInn you will enjoy views of over 60 miles across the Blue Ridge Mountains.
